Bud Theodocian Division

George Walton

Will Bailey, LHP/OF, George Walton, 2021
Crafty lefty on the mound. Pounded the zone, and forced weak contact. Wasn’t afraid to attack with a FB low to mid 70’s fastball. Kept hitters guessing with a 12-6 curve that had hitters timing really out of sync. He went 5 strong innings, and only allowed 1 hit. He got it done at the plate as well. The LHH had a short, compact swing. Had two doubles on the weekend. 

Campbell

Alex Karst, RHP, Campbell, 2023
6-foot-5 200-pounds. Intimidating figure when he steps on the mound. Long, lanky frame really gets down the mound. Over the top arm action, with a simple delivery. Still growing into his body. FB was 81-82, commanding the zone. CB was 68-69 with good spin, stayed on top of it consistently. Showed maturity for a freshman, there is definitely more in the tank for the 6-5 freshman.   


Tristan Jensen, RHP, Campbell, 2022
6-foot 170-pounds. Jensen was a standout all fall, at the plate and on the mound. He is a competitor in all aspects of the game. Throws from a ¾ arm slot. Gets good action on the FB at 78-82. Attacks the zone, and has the ability to pitch in well. Kid could pitch everyday it seems like. Stays on line, and stays in his back-side. SL is frisbee like 67-68. Gets swing and misses, especially on RHH’s. 


Ryan Gold, LHP, Campbell, 2023
6-foot-1 150-pounds. Another competitive freshman arm for Campbell. Long, lanky lefty showed a ton of upside on Friday night. FB was 79-81, and CB was 66-69 with good spin. Arm works the same on both FB and CB. Came in relief in a tight game, and worked his way out of a jam. He gets good extension, and looks really comfortable out of the stretch and using the slide step. 


Union Grove

Carson Huber, RHP, Union Grove, 2021
5-foot-11 150-pounds. Short, stocky athletic frame. Easy arm action with a strong lower half. FB worked up to 83 in the first. Settled in at 80-82. Had a slurve type BB at 72-73. He forced contact and got quick outs. Managed the game really well, and had a good tempo on the mound. Could spin the BB in any count, which made the FB much more effective.


Peyton, Sower LHP/1B, Union Grove, 2020
6-foot-3 205-pounds. Uncommitted. 2-way prospect. Strong frame, and can move well for his size. Looked fluid on the mound. Has a small hitch in the second half of his delivery, but uses it to his advantage and keeps hitter off timing. Hides the ball well, and comes across his body slightly. FB was 80-83, looked really smooth out of the wind-up. LHH, short leg kick stride. Has some pop in the swing, went the other way really well. Stays down on the ball, and lets the hands work. 



Creekview

Heath Clevenger, RHP, Creekview, 2021
6-foot-5 210-pounds. Tall, well built frame. Worked through 5 innings, and competed the entire time. Attacked hitters early, and relied on the FB.FB was up to 84, but he ended up staying around 80-82 the rest of the game. Clevenger has a lot of room to go with his frame. Expect the FB velo to climb with time. CB was 65-77, CH 76-77. FB was up when he missed, but made quick adjustments. 


Rob English Division

Kennesaw Mountain

Sam Sparks, 1B, Kennesaw Mountain, 2020
Uncommitted. 5-foot-10, 200 pounds. Big-bodied cleanup hitter for Kennesaw Mountain. Hits from a crouched stance and comes out of legs a bit in load. Good tempo with hands and has a simple lower-half. Level swing with some power behind it. Hit balls hard in game one. Moves well for size.


Eliud Poventud, SS, Kennesaw Mountain, 2023
Freshman lead-off man for Kennesaw Mountain. Plays the game hard, and at a really fast speed. Looked really smooth in the field. Hands and feet work well together. Has a quick release, and attacks the baseball.Moves side to side well. Good runner at the top of the order. Saw a hard 90 every timeout of him. I expect the freshman has earned his job for the next few years. A high follow for the coming years.

Trinity Christian

Shep Hancock, RHP/1B, Trinity Christian, 2020
Mercer recruit. Large, durable frame at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds. Faced two batters in relief, sitting 90-92 and touching 93-94 with some hop as the ball jumps out of his hand. Breaking ball flashed shape and the potential to be at least average at 76-77. Retired both hitters, striking out one. Also provides power from the left side of the plate with strength and above average bat speed.


JT Belflower, OF, Trinity Christian, 2020
Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 175 pounds. Hits from an upright, open stance. Gets to hitting position in time and does a solid job of keeping hands back. Hunted FBs over the weekend and showed a line drive approach. Head stays down on contact. Athletic player who also held down CF with ease.


Jayce Blalock, OF, Trinity Christian, 2022
5-foot-9, 183 pounds with solid, strong build. Blalock took healthy swings all weekend out of the 3-hole with an aggressive approach. Bat really stands out. Strong presence, simple load, fast hands. Has simplified swing since the summer, but maintains violence through contact. Was a standout at the Underclass Invitational in January. Currently ranked 27th in the GA ‘22 class.


Tai Peete, RHP, Trinity Christian, 2023
6-foot-3 170-pounds. Tons of athleticism from the long limbed, lanky frame. FB was up to 84. Sat mostly 80-83. Slow, smooth delivery with some aggression on the finish. Really reaches back, and finishes really well. The CB is still developing, but showed really good shape, and depth. Competed really well for a freshman. Expect him to carry a substantial amount of innings for the lions. 


Sequoyah

Colin Koprowski, RHP, Sequoyah, 2020
Columbus State recruit. 5-foot-10, 190 pounds with a developed lower-half; durable build. Simple motion on the mound with a short arm-action. Hides ball well. Koprowski had a great weekend on the mound, earning All-Tournament Team: 5 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 9 K. FB sat 84-87 throughout outing, while showing a secondary pitch with CT action at 80 mph; came out of hand looking like FB and kept hitter on front-side. CB came in at 71-75.


Ryder Moye, LHP, Sequoyah, 2022
5-foot-11 155-pounds. A standout from the fall, Moye is always consistent. A crafty lefty that fills up the zone, and forced contact. Come out of a high ¾ slot, so his FB was some run and little sink. Controls the outer half of the zone. FB was 79-81. Stayed at the bottom of the zone. Got a lot of ground ball outs. He will carry a large amount of innings for the Chiefs this year. 


Dunwoody

Connor Haynes, RHP, Dunwoody, 2022
5-foot-11, 175 pounds. Athletic two-way player who showed well on the mound in his start. Effortless delivery. Commanded pitches very well. FB sat 81-84 in cold temps.; mixed both sides of the plate with success. Showed an 11/5 breaking ball at 72. Relied on FB to get outs by challenging opposing hitters. Went 3 IP and allowed 0 runs. Currently ranked 62nd in the GA ‘22 class.
