Future Games Spotlight - SS Craig Kalkbrenner

Phil Kerber
Georgia Scouting Director

The 2022 PBR Future Games are less than a week away, and will be here in no time. With that being said, we would like to introduce you to this year's Team Georgia. We will roll out individual player spotlights with comments, video, stats, and more over the next few days.

A do it all middle infielder, SS Craig Kalkbrenner (Harrison, 2024) has tools to work with across the board. Checking at 6-foot, 1168-pounds the right-handed hitter has a lean, athletic build with a muscular frame. A 6.9 runner, his speed shows all over the diamond, whether its on the bases or with a first quick step at shortstop. There are no worries he can stick on the left-side or even make a move to center field given his athleticism and upper 80s arm strength. At the plate, he has gap-to-gap power with a contact swing and the ability to backspin the ball.

Kalkbrenner had one of the biggest impressions of the day. The twitchy 6-foot, 165-pounder ran the third fastest 60 at 6.86. During BP, he showed a calm, relaxed demeanor at the plate and athletic hands. Via TrackMan, the right-handed hitter barreled 83% of batted balls, spraying line drives.
