Future Games Spotlight - RHP Dane Moehler

Phil Kerber
Georgia Scouting Director

The 2022 PBR Future Games are less than a week away, and will be here in no time. With that being said, we would like to introduce you to this year's Team Georgia. We will roll out individual player spotlights with comments, video, stats, and more over the next few days.

One of the state's top ranked arms attending the event, ranked No. 26 in the state and No. 262 overall, RHP Dane Moehler (Walton, 2024) brings a high velocity fastball, touching 91 earlier this summer. The 6-foot-3, 170-pounder has a large frame with broad shoulders and a proportional build. The delivery is fast paced, with very good balance and tons of deception. He has an easy short circle arm action firing from a ¾ slot, and you don’t see the ball until it's coming out of his hand. The FB is 86-88 T90 with nasty ride and run. He throws a nasty 72-75 CB that tunnels very well with his FB. It’ll have SL shape at times but one thing is for sure, it's going to get late depth. The CH is an upper 70’s fader that he has a solid feel for. His dad Brian pitched 14 years in the big leagues.

The CH is an upper 70’s fader that he has a solid feel for. His dad Brian pitched 14 years in the big leagues, and their deliveries & frames are very similar. The big picture here is an aggressive power pitcher who has finesse when he needs it. Dane is advanced in many ways on the mound and has a great person to learn the process from every day.

6-foot-2, 160-pound right-handed pitcher, lean, projectable build, lots of room to fill out. Had one of the most impressive performances of the event, and firmly cemented himself as an arm to watch in the 2024 class. Short, compact arm action, hides ball on back-side, ball jumps out. Easy effort delivery, looks like he’s just playing catch. Fastball sat 85-89, late running action, used to both sides of the plate, got under the hands of batters. Curveball, 71-75, 11/5 shape, tunnels well with fastball, sharp action, swing and miss pitch. Changeup, 77-79.
