Harold Coll SS / Cathedral, MA / 2020HYDE PARK, Ma. - “I always play with an agenda because you never know who’s watching.” That is something Harold Coll takes pride in when it comes to baseball. The philosophy has worked out well for the Cathedral High School junior, who will be taking his talent to a warmer climate after committing to play for North Carolina. “This was my first choice,” the second-rated 2020 shortstop in New England said of North Carolina. “I was thinking just keep doing what you’re doing if an offer comes on the visit.” That turned into reality when the Atlantic Coast Conference school reached out to the 5-10 167-pound shortstop. “They like my energy and the way I carry myself, that hustle on and off the field,” Coll said of North Carolina, which saw the 12th-ranked New England junior at numerous events including the Future Games in August where he “got the exposure needed playing the top ballplayers in the country.” There was more about Coll that stood out to NC besides on the ball field. “They like that I do well in the classroom,” explained Coll, who carries a 3.8 GPA with plans to major in business at college. “They like that I’m a good man with good character.” Southern schools Wake Forest and Stetson were others high on Coll’s college list, with Maryland, Coastal Carolina and Tennessee also in consideration. |
