As the 2024 Georgia high school season nears, and we finish up our last rankings update of the year we take a look at some players that are primed and ready for big sophomore years. This can be a pivotal year for many of these players as some will earn starting spots on their varsity squads, and be relied on as key contributors. Playing varsity baseball in Georgia is no small task, and contributing as a sophomore is even harder to come by. These 8 catchers are our "pick to click" this spring. We know there will be tons of guys with that stand out this spring, and we look forward to getting out to cover the entire state to find those players. 

Ty Tillery, Right-Handed Pitcher

Height: 6-foot-3

Weight: 185-pounds

High School: Morgan County

Commitment: Georgia

+ A fall removed from leading Morgan County in receptions and receiving touchdowns on the gridiron, Ty Tillery brings the multi-sport athleticism to the mound as one of the best pitchers in the state coming into this upcoming spring. Tons of funk and deception out of a low three-quarters arm slot with a loose arm action that creates massive scap retraction at foot strike that screams future velo. Power breaking ball is a true weapon with immense depth at 79-81 for plenty of swing and miss. Changeup is developing and just barely scratching the surface of his potential on the mound.

Drew Harmon, Right-Handed Pitcher

Height: 6-foot-1

Weight: 180-pounds

High School: Sequoyah

Commitment: Uncommitted

+ Harmon has made some really big strides from summer to now, and will be a key piece for the Chiefs this spring. The fastball has increased over 5mph since May, he was 83-84 at our Georgia Jackets scout day and was 85-88 at the Kennesaw State Campus Tour. The added size and strength is the biggest contributor to the velocity jump, and we could see that continue to climb this spring and into the summer.

Joseph Contreras, Right-Handed Pitcher

Height: 6-foot-3

Weight: 165-pounds

High School: Blessed Trinity

Commitment: Uncommitted

With an uber-projectable 6-foot-3 frame and impressive big-league bloodlines, it was easy to see why Contreras made massive strides over the calendar year including adding nearly 10 MPH on the fastball up to the mid-80s. Flashes an advanced feel for a deep pitch mix that includes two distinct breaking balls and a forkball that looks like a budding put-away pitch. There’s real polish already on the 15-year-old that bodes extremely well for finding innings on a very talented Blessed Trinity squad this spring.

Colin White, Left-Handed Pitcher

Height: 6-foot-3

Weight: 170-pounds

High School: Harrison

Commitment: Georgia Tech

With a lean, projectable 6-foot-3 frame and premium arm talent from the left-side, Colin White has one of the highest ceilings in the class. Armed with explosive arm speed, the Georgia Tech commit runs it up to 90 already with carry and creates huge extension down the mound. It has the early makings of a potential plus offering eventually. Curveball will miss a ton of bats in the mid-70s with tight, late bite that creates impressive depth and innate feel to spin (Avg. 2600+). Making the move to Harrison allows White to pitch alongside high-octane arm 2024 RHP Tate Strickland and have 2023 PBR All-American Dominic Stephenson behind the plate.

AJ Rice, Right-Handed Pitcher/Short-Stop
Height: 5-foot-11

Weight: 150-pounds

High School: Pickens

Commitment: Uncommitted

+ Rice has been a consistent performer since last summer. The 4 pitch mix can keep any line up on their toes, and guessing pitch to pitch. He carried the strong summer into the spring where he had one of the best ERA’s in the state as a freshman for Pickens. He varies the fastball velocity, but we have seen him up to 88, and will surely keep climbing. As the fastball continues to increase it will make his other pitches that much better.

Ty Mobley, Right-Handed Pitcher

Height: 6-foot-7

Weight: 232-pounds

High School: Washington County

Commitment: Auburn

Already presenting an imposing, physical 6-foot-7 frame and true feel to spin, Ty Mobley presents a real chance to have a huge impact on an unproven Washington County pitching staff. Easy mid-80s velo with heavy sink and run that will consistently fill up the zone for in-zone whiffs. Two breaking balls that’s led by 76-78 mph two-plane slider that has a chance to be an above-average offering sooner than later. The Auburn commit is going to throw absolute fuel as he continues to develop his XL frame, and this upcoming spring could be the beginning of such.

Carson Adomnik, Right-Handed Pitcher

Height: 6-foot-4

Weight: 185-pounds

High School: South Paulding

Commitment: Uncommitted

+ The 6-foot-4 frame is an imposing figure on the mound. Adomnik showed his ability to throw strikes and hold velocity throughout a start for 643 this summer. He has been up to 88, but we could soon see him creep into the low 90’s. The delivery is effortless and efficient with really good extension and back leg drive down the mound.

Cohen Bohannon, Left-Handed Pitcher
Height: 6-foot

Weight: 150-pounds

High School: Allatoona

Commitment: Uncommitted

+ Bohannon has all the makings of a huge sophomore season after earning some valuable innings as a freshman at Allatoona. The ball comes out of a high 3⁄4, deceiving arm slot that creates strong arm side movement. The arm is loose and electric and can run the fastball up to 87. The intent is there and now he has a strong frame to build on with 90 right around the corner.
