2023 Spring Picks to Click: 2026 Infielders

Hudson Graham and Ian Smith
Prep Baseball Georgia

As the 2024 Georgia high school season nears, and we finish up our last rankings update of the year we take a look at some players that are primed and ready for big sophomore years. This can be a pivotal year for many of these players as some will earn starting spots on their varsity squads, and be relied on as key contributors. Playing varsity baseball in Georgia is no small task, and contributing as a sophomore is even harder to come by. These 7 infielders are our "pick to click" this spring. We know there will be tons of guys with that stand out this spring, and we look forward to getting out to cover the entire state to find those players.. Be sure to follow along the next few days as we will be releasing catchers and pitchers as well.

Reiston Durham, Shortstop

Height: 5-foot-11

Weight: 165-pounds

High School: Dacula

Commitment: Uncommitted

+ Durham and his rise into the cream of the crop of Georgia’s 2026 infielders has been a joy to watch this year, and now comes into this upcoming spring with lofty expectations. An impact defender up-the-middle with plus lateral range and athleticism that allows the Dacula standout make the outlandish play look routine. Real projection at the plate with present barrel control and lag paired with great hip-to-shoulder separation and lean strength give Durham a well-rounded profile that keeps ticking up.

Jason Williams, Shortstop
Height: 6-foot

Weight: 175-pounds

High School: Denmark

Commitment: Uncommitted

+ The swing from the left side is becoming one of the more intriguing in the class. The defense stood out this summer, and now with added strength and size Williams is beginning to become a real threat at the plate. Him and Geno Goralski will be a fun duo to watch this spring at Denmark.

Reece Groderman, Right-handed Pitcher / Third-Base

Height: 6-foot-4

Weight: 189-pounds

High School: Model

Commitment: Uncommitted

+ Grodeman first came onto the scene in 2022 at Junior Future Games where he came in against a tough Michigan team, and shut the game down on the mound. Right now, Grodeman is one of the top 2-way prospects in the state, and we could see him play both long term. We saw him this fall and the BP round was the most impressive thing about the workout even though he was running the fastball up to 89 after a long summer. Grodeman earned valuable playing time as a freshman at Model, and now with added confidence, strength and size Grodeman could have a huge spring both at the plate and on the mound.

Charlie Delp, First-Base

Height: 6-foot-1

Weight: 191-pounds

High School: West Forsyth

Commitment: Uncommitted

+ With a simple load and lofty, left-handed cut, Charlie Delp flashes some of the best power projection in the class. Present bat speed and strength in the 6-foot-1 frame allow the first-baseman to create easy pull-side pop that will show in-game. West Forsyth will be paced by a strong group of underclassmen in 2024, and Delp seems poised to be a huge factor.

Mason Hester, Third-Base

Height: 6-foot-3

Weight: 180-pounds

High School: Lumpkin County

Commitment: Uncommitted

+ With a lean, high-waisted 6-foot-3 frame, Hester provides some high-level projection at the hot corner. Some ability to manipulate the barrel with ability to create leverage allows Hester flash above-average power at times, and will continue to grow as he fills out his frame. A big spring for Lumpkin County could push the multi-sport athlete into some of the top third-baseman in the state conversations.

Colton Sweat, Shortstop

Height: 5-foot-10

Weight: 170-pounds

High School: West Forsyth

Commitment: Uncommitted

+ A favorite among us here at PBR Georgia, Colton Sweat is a flat-out gamer. 100 percent energy at all times with the production to back it. A chance for an above-average glove at either second-base or shortstop that’s backed by a strong arm and athleticism that shines in-game. Sweat does an excellent job at staying on-plane at the plate with present bat speed and barrel control that could lead to a quality hit tool. I mentioned the group of underclassmen at West Forsyth earlier, and Colton Sweat has the toolset to be the best of the bunch.

Luke Nitkowski, Shortstop, Right-Handed Pitcher
Height: 6-foot

Weight: 145-pounds

High School: Creekview

Commitment: Uncommitted

+ The sophomore spring at Creekview could be Nitkowski’s breakout year. He saw some time as a freshman, but now as a sophomore he is bound to earn a starting job in the infield after a big summer. Nitkowski is one of those players that will find a way to succeed no matter the line up he is in. He hit over .400 in the summer, and walked more than he struck out. All the tools are there in the field, and now he has a lean, 6-foot from to build on.
