2018 North Georgia Summer Trials: Class of 2019
July 2, 2018
This group of players is entering an important time in the process, the work they put in this Fall and Winter will be crucial in their futures. Plenty of next level talent in this group and looking forward to checking back in and seeing how they have progressed.
Justin Barnes SS / 2B / Kennesaw Mountain, GA / 2019At 5-foot-10 165-pounds, Barnes has a compact strong body. Defensively he shows solid up the middle actions, with short compact movements and soft hands. He also posses and accurate arm with a quick release. He runs well, turning in a 6.82 60 time at the event. At the plate Barnes produces consistent contact by hitting out of a straight away set-up and good feel for the barrel. Displaying plenty of bat-speed (85 exit velo), and an all fields approach that produces line drive, after line drive. Barnes is a good athlete with solid all around baseball player actions and will bring versatility to a team at the next level. |
Colin Grant 1B / RHP / River Ridge, GA / 2019Grant checks in at 5-foot-9 200-pounds and is strong. At the plate Grant shows a sit and spin approach and has proven he can catch good velocity. and has over the fence power, that is backed up by his 90 mph exit velocity. Grant should bring solid offensive production to a team at the next level. Grant is a serviceable defender at firstbase, but needs to improve his range. His hands work and will catch what he get too. Their is enough power and feel for barrel here for a DH only spot at the next level also. |
Carter Maczko 2B / 1B / Woodstock, GA / 20196-foot-1 155-pound Maczko has a good baseball build with broad shoulders and a tapered body. He is going to need to add strength, but has good actions in the field and at the plate. He sets-up straight away with a short compact stroke and stays through the baseball well, showing good bat to ball skills. He profiles to an offensive position at the next level, so strength gains are a big priority for him going forward and believe he will improve on his already solid 87 mph exit velo. His balance and athletic set-up in the box look very hitter-ish and make me excited about seeing him after an off-season of getting stronger. Defensively he moves well in the dirt with soft hands and feet. His footwork allows him to make accurate throws and field the ball out front with soft hands. |
Jacob Stanley OF / 3B / Armuchee, GA / 2019At 6-foot-1 180-pounds Stanley's baseball frame stands out, He moves well in the outfield and shows solid actions for corner infield position. Stanley has an easy athletic set-up at the plate, and shows a loose swing, and bat-speed with a 90 mph exit velocity. As Stanley adds strength look for him to show playable power for a corner position. With a good frame and a loose easy swing, I look forward to seeing how Stanley progresses over the next year. |
Bleu Swanson C / Armuchee, GA / 2019Swanson has a strong compact build at 5-foot-9 195-pounds. He shows the ability to stay low and receive the ball to both sides of the plate, but will need to work on lateral movements for the next level. He shows the ability to get the ball out quick on throws producing a 2.09 to 2.19 pop time. Offensively Swanson can be compact and short to the baseball. He starts with rhythmic high hands and shows the ability to stay through the baseball and finish with high hands. He uses the field and has the ability to drive the ball into gaps with an 88 mph exit velocity. During the workout Swanson's effort level stood out the entire day. |
Lane Tengzelius RHP / 1B / River Ridge , GA / 2019The physical Tengzelius was a pleasant surprise coming in at 5-foot-11 190-pounds he is stocky, strong and explosive. On the mound he used a sidearm slot to run his fastball up to 84 mph. His slider is inconsistent presently but when he got out front it showed good two-plane break. Offensively he also showed good strength and power drilling balls to the pull side and posting a 93 mph exit velocity. |
Sam Worthan 1B / Allatoona, GA / 2019At 5-foot-11 180-pounds Worthan shows good strength and leverage in his actions. In the box he uses a straight away set-up, high hands and a upright stance to create bat-speed and leverage. He displayed over the fence type pull side power and showed a 90 mph exit velocity. Defensively Worthan has active feet and playable hands at firstbase, but can at times play a little more upright than you would like. Worthan uses a longer arm action from the outfield and shows solid arm strength turning in a 83 mph outfield velocity.
