14U Semifinal vs Mid-Atlantic

Team Florida took on the Mid-Atlantic 14U squad in the semi-final game and came out on the wrong side of a hard fought 4-1 game. Ethan Burkhardt took the mound for Florida and gave up 4 runs on 5 hits in 4 innings. He also struck out 3 and walked none. Ryan Spitzer came in relief, throwing 2 innings allowing only 1 walk. Offensively, the Florida boys ran into some bad luck, barreling balls right at defenders, but still put up competitive at bats. Mason Barela (2-3) had a hit in all 5 games played this weekend and led the way offensively. Noah Hayse (1-2, BB) and Carlos Morales (1-3) also contributed hits. It was a good week for the 14U boys but didn’t end the way we wanted.

13U Semifinal vs Michigan

The 13 year olds rolled to the championship game of the Junior Futures Games behind their scorching hot bats. Team Florida scored 7 in the 1st, 3 in the 2nd, and 5 in the 3rd inning to complete an impressive 15-0 run-rule victory to advance and face Georgia. The offense poured it on from the start, pounding 7 extra base hits and 13 altogether. Cam Uzzillia showed off the power (2-2, HR, 2B, 6 RBI) and Skyler Jersey barreled pitches each at bat (2-2, 3B, 1B, 3 RBI). Dayson Griffis (2-2, RBI) and Nolan McClanahan (1-2, 2 RBI) each hit RBI doubles of their own while Gabe Gonzalez and Cooper Moss also doubled. Brady Martin and Charlie Stumberger recorded RBI singles to help Team Florida coast to victory. Aidyn Rattray worked an efficient 3 innings, only facing 12 batters. He only allowed 2 singles and 1 walk while striking out 2.

13U Championship vs Georgia

Team Florida 13U finished off an impressive 6-0 weekend fighting off Team Georgia 9-8 to capture the Junior Future Games 13U Championship. Florida rode a deep, scary lineup all weekend long and they didn’t let off the gas. Skyler Jersey put them on the board in the 2nd, scoring Rivers Kurland with a triple to the left center gap. Charlie Stumberger then plated Jersey with a line drive back up the middle to tie the game at 2 a piece. Later in the inning, Jacob Kendall came up with the bases juiced and split the left center gap to take a 4-2 lead. Stumberger stepped back up to the plate in the 3rd after Kurland doubled to put runners on 2nd and 3rd and deposited one over the RFs head for a 2-run double, pushing the lead to 6-3. After a JaMarques Benton walk in the 4th, Dayson Griffis smoked a ground-rule double to right center and Cam Uzzillia lined one down the first base line, off the first baseman's glove to allow both runners to score. Uzzillia put up a gutsy performance with 5.2 innings of relief and took a 8-3 into the 7th before running into trouble as the lead slipped away and Georgia came back to tie with 5 runs in the 7th. Team Florida would not be denied as Uzzillia and Kurland opened the bottom half with back to back singles and Brennan Confreda bunted them into scoring position. Nolan McClanahan was intentionally walked and Cooper Moss drew a walk to give the Florida team a 9-8 victory.
