Generally, Drafts are remembered for the player selected first overall and the health of that Draft is often tied to that player's future success. In 2023, the MLB Draft is without a slam-dunk No. 1 pick, but when it comes to this coming Draft in particular, this is only a sign of its depth of star-type prospects that are leading the way.

There will be more college prospects in the running for top-10 picks and the first overall selection next year, unlike the 2022 Draft which did not see its first collegiate athlete selected until pick No. 7 (Jacob Berry, Marlins), which is atypically late. And while there's some name brand prep prospects at the top of the PBR Draft HQ Winter Mock Draft, like Max Clark (Franklin Community HS, IN; Vanderbilt commit) and Walker Jenkins (South Brunswick HS, NC; North Carolina), they're flanked by two coveted college performers in LSU's Dylan Crews and Tennessee's Chase Dollander, who each would have (likely) heard their name called first overall in last year's Draft, were they age-eligible at the time.

Today, we'll break down the players with an authentic chance of earning the first overall selection in the 2023 MLB Draft, signaling the strength of depth of this year's class.
