Junior Future Games: Team Florida Quick Hits

The 2024 Prep Baseball Junior Future Games took place July 24-28 at Lakepoint in Cartersville, GA. The event featured 32 teams made up of uncommitted players from the 2028 class. Each team went through a pro-style workout on July 24 followed by games followed by pool play and bracket play games the next four days.

Today we will highlight the players from Team Florida at the 2024 Junior Future Games.

Shaurya Bhosale SS / RHP / HAGERTY HIGH SCHOOL, FL / 2028

Bhosale swung the bat well at the Junior Future Games with multiple hard-hit balls and base hits. He had an 84.7 EV and threw 79 across the infield during the workout. Bhosale collected three hits at the event and threw two innings on the mound up to 76 mph.

 

Drew Collins 2B / 3B / PENSACOLA CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL, FL / 2028

Drew Collins set the tone at the Junior Future Games as a top-of-the-lineup hitter. He showed versatility as a defender playing both infield and outfield. Collins had an 89 EV in BP. He got two hits at the event including a double and added two RBI. Collins also pitched three innings with three strikeouts.

 

Harvey Coots 2B / SS / PACE HIGH SCHOOL, FL / 2028

Coots showed versatility throughout the week playing multiple positions and pitching. One hit during gameplay with a single to left field. Pitched out of the bullpen for an inning of relief.

 

Kline Cummings LHP / OF / Bolles, FL / 2028

Kline Cummings got the start in Game 2 of the Junior Future Games against Alabama. He threw 2.1 innings striking out two. He topped 73 with his fastball and mixed in a 55-60 mph curveball.

 

Amani Davila SS / 2B / CYPRESS CREEK HIGH SCHOOL, FL / 2028

Davila showed promise on both sides of the ball. Clean defender up the middle. 77 across the infield and an 82.4 EV. Two singles during gameplay.

 

Cullen Garner OF / RHP / RIDGEVIEW HIGH SCHOOL, FL / 2028

Garner was a big winner at the Junior Future Games. He showed premier arm strength for the class up to 88 from the outfield and 89 on the mound. Garner got one hit in gameplay and on the mound, he struck out seven over three scoreless, no-hit innings.

 

Clayton Gerrell C / RHP / SOUTH WALTON HIGH SCHOOL, FL / 2028

Gerrell impressed all around the field at the Junior Future Games, but his actions behind the plate project him as a future above-average defender. Confident receiver with soft hands. 87 EV, 1.98 pop time, and 79 INF velo during the showcase. No hits during gameplay but put together some quality ABs. Struck out three on the mound as well up to 80.

 

Tommy Giro C / 1B / Westminster Christian, FL / 2028

Giro continued to impress behind the plate as a leader and signal caller. Receives and blocks well. At the plate, the left-handed hitter had an 85.6 EV. He had a 2.00 pop time during the showcase.

 

Carter Hawk 3B / RHP / SOUTH WALTON HIGH SCHOOL, FL / 2028

Carter Hawk showed well as a two-way at the event. 85.4 EV and 81 across the infield during the showcase. Hawk had two hits and four RBI during gameplay including a double. He also pitched three innings with his fastball up to 82.

  

Dennon Johnson 2B / RHP / ATLANTIC COAST HIGH SCHOOL, FL / 2028

Johnson impressed with his two-way ability and a real feel to pitch. 80 EV in BP. Found the barrel multiple times with four hits during gameplay. Johnson got the start on the mound in a win over Maryland. He threw four innings with two strikeouts with his fastball up to 77 mph.

  

Jackson Resnick OF / C / LAKE MARY HIGH SCHOOL, FL / 2028

Resnick stood out offensively with his approach and plate discipline. 87.4 EV in BP. Three hits during gameplay and drew several walks.

 

Curtis Rinne C / OF / WINTER SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL, FL / 2028

Rinne was a power threat in the middle of the Florida lineup. 1.88 pop time during the showcase. Three hits and two RBI during gameplay including a pair of doubles.

  

Ethan Thomas RHP / C / NICEVILLE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL, FL / 2028

Ethan Thomas was another impressive two-way at the JFGs. Up to 78 with his fastball, 86.4 EV, 2.09 pop time. Three hits and three RBI during gameplay. Pitched 2.2 innings with two strikeouts.

 

Ben Turrell 2B / RHP / PORT ST. JOE HIGH SCHOOL, FL / 2028

Turrell was versatile and got on base multiple times at the JFGs. Played infield, outfield, and pitched. Had two hits during gameplay and pitched two innings and struck out two.

 

Christian Yamashita SS / 2B / Montverde Academy, FL / 2028

Yamashita swung the bat and defended well at the Junior Future Games. 81.1 EV and was 79 across the infield. Four hits and two doubles during gameplay for Yamashita. Also pitched an inning and struck out two.
