Unsigned Senior Spotlight: SS Austin Alexander
April 2, 2020
Our goal at Prep Baseball Report is to promote high school players, and give them the exposure they need to be able to play at the next level. With the 2020 high school season in limbo, we want to continue to be able to promote players, even when baseball is not being played. This spring, we will be spotlighting several uncommitted seniors to help them get the exposure they need to play at the next level in 2021.
Next up is uncommitted 2020 SS Austin Alexander (Miami Sunset). Alexander, an athletic middle-infielder has stood out at multiple PBR events including the 2019 Preseason All-State and Prospect ID FIU. He ranks 163rd in the PBR Florida Class of 2020 rankings.

Big frame with room to fill out. Ran a 7.33 60 yard dash. Solid feet and quick smooth arm that generated 86 across the infield. Long levers. Good feel to swing and uses lower half well. Barrel lags a bit, but whippy, present bat speed creates consistent hard line drives. 85 MPH off the bat. Projectable frame with feel to hit and an above average defensive ceiling.
A lean and projectable 6-foot-1, 160 pounds. Defensive actions are presently above average and projects to stick on the left side. Works with rhythm, but shows quick first step and functional athleticism. Offensively, he stands tall and works with a leg kick trigger. Trusts his hands and creates natural leverage. Has some length, but will continue to add power and become more compact with strength. Present exit velocity of 85 mph.
The athletic, 6-foot-1, 160 pound middle infielder has a long, lean and projectable frame. Defensively, he showed fluid, easy action at short working to and through the ball with rhythm. Could improve release quickness, but first step, hands and feet work well. Offensively, there is some present bat speed, with loose hands and a level swing through the zone. Showed a feel for the barrel with line drives from gap to gap in BP.
