Prep Baseball Report

Unsigned Junior Spotlight: RHP David Rossow

Rocco Iervasi
Florida Director of Operations/Area Scout

Our goal at Prep Baseball Report is to promote high school players, and give them the exposure they need to be able to play at the next level. With the 2020 high school season in limbo, we want to continue to be able to promote players, even when baseball is not being played. Over the last month, we have been spotlighting several uncommitted seniors to help them get the exposure they need to play at the next level in 2021. Starting this week, we will move on to uncommitted 2021's who will be heading into their senior summer.

Next up is uncommitted 2021 RHP David Rossow (Cardinal Gibbons). Rossow was a standout at the Cannons Baseball Academy Scout Day in January where we saw his fastball jump up to 88 mph. The 6-foot-3, 175 pound right-hander has a very projectable frame and should see his fastball creep into the 90s as he continues to get stronger.

Scouting Report

1/16/20
The tall, lanky righty has gained some strength and a few ticks on his fastball since we last saw him in the summer. He sat 84-85 and touched 88. He mixes in a tight slider at 70-71, and a changeup at 66-67. Slightly above average command. Has the projectability in the frame and arm talent to come into low 90s velo.

7/27/19

Long 6-foot-3, 170 pound frame. 3/4 slot produces an 82-83 mph fastball with some heavy arm side run. Pronates well to get the run. He tunnels the late-breaking slider well at 72 mph. With a slight velocity jump that looks to be in the tank, he has a chance to be an effective reliever at the next level with the movement and arm slot on the fastball/slider combination.

6/30/19

Tall, lanky frame at 6-foot-3, 170 pounds. Projectable body and arm on the mound. Live arm that plays, works at 80-82 from a high ¾ slot. Flashed an above average slider at 70. Commanded the fastball well, with average command of the slider. Average offensive ceiling, but stays inside and hit the ball hard to the right side to move a runner over in-game. More exciting prospect on the mound than positionally.
