Prep Baseball Report

Unsigned Junior Spotlight: OF Caden Turrell

Rocco Iervasi
Florida Director of Operations/Area Scout

Our goal at Prep Baseball Report is to promote high school players, and give them the exposure they need to be able to play at the next level. With the 2020 high school season in limbo, we want to continue to be able to promote players, even when baseball is not being played. Over the last two months, we have been spotlighting several uncommitted seniors to help them get the exposure they need to play at the next level in 2021. This month, we will move on to uncommitted 2021's who will be heading into their senior summer.

Next up is uncommitted 2021 OF Caden Turrell (Port St. Joe). Turrell was a standout at the Panhandle Summer Kick-Off last summer with his above average athleticism and quickness. He ranks No. 218 in the PBR Florida Class of 2021 rankings.

Scouting Report

5/18/19

At 5-foot-11, 160 pounds, Turrell was the best athlete in attendance. Ran a 6.88 60 yard dash and showed overall quick twitch and athleticism. Defensively, the athleticism plays well in the outfield. Comes through the ball well and shows a quick release. Also showed a quality first step and above-average range in the outfield. Topped out at 84 mph. Offensively, he can get rotational at times, really cutting himself off and limiting his natural hand speed. When he does work through extension, he has very quick hands and the ball jumps off the bat at extension, especially to the pull side. Overall, a very intriguing athlete with a high ceiling.
