Uncommitted Spotlight: 2024 AJ Sierra

This summer we will continue to highlight players throughout the state with Uncommitted Spotlights. We will highlight 2023, and 2024 players looking for a school to call home. The state of Florida is full of uncommitted players who have the talent to play at the next level. These players deserve as much exposure as they can get in order to help them find the right home.
Today, we will highlight 2024 AJ Sierra. AJ is a 6-foot-1, 195 pound outfielder from Lakeland Senior HS in Lakeland, FL. Outside of high school, AJ plays travel ball with FTB. AJ is an athletic outfielder who impressed at the 2021 Sophomore State Games. 6.71 runner with an above average arm at 89 mph from the OF. Sierra is a physical hitter with ability to lift on contact. Shows pull-side power potential with exit velocities up to 94 mph. Sierra should be a name to follow this summer.

Scouting Report
5-foot-11, 190-pound physical athletic build. Solid during batting practice, Sierra had an exit velocity of 94 mph. (64.14 mph bat speed average). (21.07 mph hand speed average). Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a slow rhythmic load, then uses a short stride. Has a short swing plane, electric bat speed and high finish. Found multiple barrels with tons of loud contact. Aggressive gap to gap approach. Athletic from the outfield, he showed plus arm strength by making throws to the infield at velocities up to 89 mph;shows a quick clean exchange, consistent hands, and athletic feet. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. Had a long arm action and an-over-the-top slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. Showed off his speed at the event, running a swift 6.71 60-yard dash.
5-foot-11, 182-pound lean athletic build. Confident at the plate, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 89 mph. (61.03 mph bat speed average). (21.05 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth compact load, then used a controlled small leg kick stride. Bat speed is above average, uses an uphill loose swing plane and high finish. During his round he produced loud contact and found lots of barrels. Aggressive approach. Solid in the outfield, he showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 80 mph; has sure consistent hands, consistent rhythmic feet, and a quick clean exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. From an-over-the-top slot, showed consistent accuracy to the bag with a longer loose arm action. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.85.

Defense: (OF) Twitchy hands, smooth rhythmic footwork, clean natural exchange. Projectable. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball to the side.
Arm: 76 mph outfield velocity. Longer arm action, an-over-the-top slot, decent accuracy.
