Uncommitted Spotlight: 2022 Jackson Hiatt

This spring we will be highlighting players throughout the state with Uncommitted Spotlights. We will highlight one 2022, 2023, and 2024 player each week looking for a school to call home. The state of Florida is full of uncommitted players who have the talent to play at the next level. These players deserve as much exposure as they can get in order to help them find the right home.
Today, we will highlight 2022 Jackson Hiatt. Jackson is a 1B/3B from Pensacola Catholic High School. Has a long frame at 6-foot-5, 215 pounds. Outside of high school, Jackson plays travel ball with West Florida Baseball Academy. Hiatt was a standout at the 2021 Senior State Games representing the North Region. Displayed raw power in BP with a top exit velo of 99 mph. Hiatt has been swinging it well so far this Spring batting .543 with 5 homeruns and 27 RBI for Pensacola Catholic.

Scouting Report
6-foot-5, 215-pound strong mature frame. Solid above average during batting practice, Hiatt had a max exit velocity of 99 mph. (69.08 mph bat speed average). (23.36 mph hand speed average). Begins in a tall balanced stance with a quick controlled load, then uses a leg kick. Had electric bat speed, short swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contact. Aggressive gap to gap approach. Solid showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 85 mph; had consistent sure hands, a clean quick exchange, and smooth footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a high ¾ slot and a long arm action. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.31.
6-foot-4, 205-pound right-handed corner infielder and right-handed pitcher, extra-large projectable frame, lanky with strength, good bloodlines, father, Phil Hiatt, played in the majors. Offensively, takes a wide, balanced setup, long kick timing trigger, smooth hand load back, lower half half has explosive tendencies, good balance. Profiles as power hitter with pull-side approach, can really turn on the ball, elevates the ball with force, quick hands to contact, barrel is long through the zone, gaining extension, consistently found the barrel, has a swagger about him, 88 exit velocity. With continued reps and additional strength will be a serious long ball threat. Defensively, long arm action, high ¾ slot, accurate on throws, 80 across the infield. A corner infielder, good feel for glove, clean actions. On the mound, full arm swing, clean on the back-side, high ¾ slot. Stays tall on his back-side, works on-line landing toe-closed, drags back-side through to a square finish. Fastball sat 76-78, touched 80, gets on top of with east effort. Curveball, 12/6 shape, gradual break, 61-63. Changeup, sinking action, 68-70.
