Top 10 Profiles of 2021: No. 10 Zion Rose
December 20, 2021
Louisville commit Zion Rose (Brother Rice, 2023) kicks off our countdown to the New Year as our No. 10 most-viewed profile of 2021. Currently ranked No. 5 in Illinois' 2023 class, Rose has never left the top-five in the state since the first edition of the '23 rankings released 2020. The future Cardinal also earned national recognition recently, ranked No. 103 overall in the country.
Rose has the unique combination of premium strength and athleticism, listed at a muscular 6-foot-1, 205 pounds. He's an intimidating at-bat from the right-handed box, and he routinely connects for hard contact from a mature approach. Starting in a crouched position, Rose moves quietly into a short/gliding stride with a fluid tempo throughout. He possesses extremely quick/strong hands through the baseball, giving him some of the easiest pop in the entire class. Defensively, Rose also excels behind the plate, possessing soft/presenting hands that pair with a strong and accurate arm. He also moves extremely well for his size, moving directionally out of the crouch and acting as a willing blocker.
Rose is one of the most exciting players to watch in the state, and we will see what's in store for him in 2022 as he and the loaded Brother Rice ball club around him make another play at state this spring.
