ST. PETERSBURG, FL—After a quick stop at the IMG National Classic in the morning, I drove north to St. Petersburg to see two of the top hitters in the country—OF Alex Kirilloff (Plum HS, PA) and SS Bo Bichette (Lakewood HS, FL). Let’s just say it was a good day.
Kirilloff’s team is down for a round of spring training, playing several games over the course of three days along with a few other Northeast teams as they try to escape the weather. A couple dozen scouts, including several crosscheckers and directors, were on hand to see the Liberty recruit play a doubleheader. He had a quiet first game, going 1-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored, but went off in the second. He went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. His lone at-bat without a hit in the second game was a shot at the first baseman. It goes down as an error, but it was smoked.
