Tejeda, Xuereb Lead North Broward Prep over St. John Paul II

The No. 15 ranked player in Florida, Yoel Tejeda, got the start Tuesday afternoon for North Broward Prep against St John Paul.
Tejeda would mostly cruise through five innings of work, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out eight and walking a pair.
The tall, lean Florida Gator recruit has a lot of upside. Works with little effort, working mostly 90-91, topping at 92 mph with fastball. The slider was somewhat a slurve and showed some late bite when thrown harder in the 76-78 mph range, but will be able to continue to improve at the next level. The changeup flashed average as well as 83-84 mph.
Overall, he showed his big time ceiling while cruising through his five innings, exiting the game with North Broward leading 3-0.
The offense for North Broward was led by talented two-way player 2022 Jonathan Xuereb. The Appalachian State recruit has really matured and added strength, was consistently on time and showed above average bat speed. He would collect a pair of hits, a walk and score three of the four runs.
Doing most of the run production was talented sophomore Gian De Castro. The very physical third baseman and left handed hitter has a strong lower half and showed the ability to use it well, staying balanced through the swing with easy gap power. Castro would also have a pair of hits and RBIs and is a young prospect to follow going forward. 2023 EKU commit Mauricio Bejarano collected two hits as well.
Another intriguing young prospect was 2025 Manny Lantigua of St John Paul. The freshman really stood out defensively with his well above average defensive actions. The swing also works efficiently, with all the tools projecting well with maturity and strength.
2022 Tommy Melvin of St John Paul would drive in the first run of the game in the 6th, but North Broward would add another in the seventh and seal the 4-1 win.
