Summer Standouts: West Region 2024s

After a long hot summer down in the sunshine state, we want to look back at the many players who stood out at showcases this year. Plenty of committed and uncommitted talent from each high school class made a name for themselves this summer and really stood out to our scouting staff.
Last Monday, we introduced our 2021 Summer Standout series. This series will highlight players from each class that really stood out at our events this summer. Throughout this Summer Standout Series, we will get ready for our State Games this Fall with the theme of #RepYourRegion. Each standout article will be broken down region by region. Today, we will continue with the West Region 2024 Standouts.
West Region 2024 Standouts
McCall Biemiller LHP / OF / Jesuit, FL / 20246-foot-2, 157-pound athletic long build. Athletic in the box, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 92 mph. (64.58 mph bat speed average). (22.66 mph hand speed average). Begins in a balanced tall stance with a slow controlled load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed was quick, had an upward swing plane and high finish. Found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Above average in the outfield, he used momentum and arm strength to record throws up to 88 mph;had athletic rhythmic footwork, a quick clean exchange, and soft hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a high ¾ slot and a long arm action. Recorded a 60 time of 7.22 at the event. Projectable on the mound, had a ¾ arm angle and a very quick arm action with lightning arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who uses easy effort. In his delivery his balance point is tall with even shoulders. Lands open with a falling off finish. Threw his fastball 82-84 mph with a max of 85 mph; had a tight fastball that showed tailing action and control consistent low in the zone. (Max spin 2127; Avg 2001). Has consistent low in the zone control and sweeping action on his tight curveball (66-70). (Max spin 2385; Avg 2361). Has arm side command and fading action on his sharp changeup (78-79). |
Aidan Brigato SS / RHP / Calvary Christian, FL / 2024Rankings StateRank: 100 / POS: 27
5-foot-10, 142-pound athletic physical build. Solid during batting practice, Brigato clocked an exit velocity of 89 mph. (62.93 mph bat speed average). (21.79 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth compact load, then used a short stride. Bat speed was average, used a short level swing plane and level finish. He found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Line drive approach. Fluid while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 83 mph; showed smooth rhythmic feet, a quick exchange, and soft consistent hands. Capable in the outfield, his best throw of the day was clocked at 86 mph; showed a lengthy exchange, athletic feet, and soft hands. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Used a ¾ slot and a long quick arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the base. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.15. Solid on the mound, showed quick arm speed, also used a short compact arm action and a ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who uses decent effort. Balance is tall point with an even shoulders in his delivery. Lands square with an athletic finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 81-82 mph with a max of 83 mph; has a tight fastball that shows slight running action and command consistent around the zone. (Max spin 1997; Avg 1889). |
Ethan Burkhardt RHP / 3B / TNXL Tampa, FL / 2024Rankings StateRank: 58 / POS: 11
5-foot-10, 185-pound strong athletic frame. Above average in the box, Burkhardt had a max exit velocity of 88 mph. (65.69 mph bat speed average). (17.84 mph hand speed average). Begins in an athletic balanced stance with a tight quick load, then uses a short stride. Has quick bat speed, short swing plane and level finish. Barreled up multiple balls with a lot of loud contact. Line drive gap to gap approach. Solid while in the infield, made throws up to 82 mph; had consistent hands, smooth athletic footwork, and a clean exchange. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Used a low ¾ slot with a short quick arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.33. Solid on the mound, showed a ¾ arm angle and a short arm action with quick arm speed. Tall-and-fall type pitcher and shows some effort. He has even shoulders with an athletic balance point. Lands square with an athletic finish. Threw his fastball 83-85 mph; shows control consistent around the zone and hard running action with heavy movement. (Max spin 2315; Avg 2202). Has a tight curveball (67-70) that shows very consistent low in the zone control and swing and miss action. (Max spin 2661; Avg 2602). He shows fading action and consistent around the zone control on his sharp changeup (78-79). |
Roman Corinti RHP / 3B / Tampa Catholic, FL / 2024Rankings StateRank: 66 / POS: 14
5-foot-9, 165-pound athletic build. Capable in the box, the left-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 87 mph. (61.13 mph bat speed average). (19.88 mph hand speed average). Begins in a balanced wide stance with a slow controlled load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed was average, displayed a short upward swing plane and high finish. He barreled up some balls with some loud contact. Line drive approach. Solid in the infield, his position velocity was registered at 81 mph; has smooth rhythmic feet, soft hands, and a quick clean exchange. Laterally, movements were average and fielded the ball out front. Used a long arm action with a low ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.74. Athletic on the mound, showed quick arm speed, he had low ¾ arm angle with a loose arm action. Up-tempo type pitcher who shows easy effort. Even shoulders and an athletic balance point. Lands closed with an athletic finish. Threw his fastball 78-81 mph; has tailing late action and command very consistent around the zone with tight movement. (Max spin 2217; Avg 2157). He shows control low in the zone and swing and miss tight action on his sharp curveball (64-66). (Max spin 2466; Avg 2393). |
Nick Cucchi OF / RHP / TNXL Tampa, FL / 20246-foot, 173-pound athletic physical frame. Projectable in the box, Cucchi recorded an exit velocity of 93 mph. (67.58 mph bat speed average). (22.31 mph hand speed average). Starts in an athletic stance with a small load, then uses a controlled small leg kick stride. Bat speed is above average, shows an upward swing plane and high finish. He created a lot of loud contact and found multiple barrels. Pull side line drive approach. Capable while in the infield, made throws up to 82 mph; showed consistent hands, consistent feet, and a clean exchange. Athletic when throwing from the outfield, he showed off his strong arm with throws at velocities of 88 mph;showed consistent hands, athletic feet, and a natural exchange. Fielded the ball to the side with athletic movement laterally. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a high ¾ slot with a long arm action. Recorded a time of 7.05 in the 60-yard dash. |
