States Play Standouts

The second annual States Play Tournament took place this past weekend at Marlins Park in Miami, FL. The event featured a two-game series between Team Florida and Team Georgia. The teams were made up of some of the top 2020 and 2021 players from each state. Today, we take a look at some of the standouts from the States Play Tournament.
Team Florida
5'11 180 lbs, Attends Miami Christian School. 2020 graduate committed to Miami University. Carlos possessed a presence on the mound with a three quarter arm slot and strong lower half. Carlos was able to command the strike zone with all three pitches with a fastball 93-95 mph, slider at 85 mph, and curveball at 74 mph. Carlos recorded 5 strikeouts in three innings of work. With his understanding of the strike zone and room to grow and get stronger, Carlos will be a player to watch come June of 2020.
6'1 185 lbs, Attends Monsignor Pace High School. 2020 graduate committed to Miami University. Sammy played 3rd base in Saturday night's game showing range to both sides. He made a great diving play down the line and nearly threw out the runner at first in a bang bang play. With a strong arm and a bat to match, Sammy has the tools to shine in the infield. Sammy shows gap to gap power at the plate with a solid lower half and quick hands to the ball.
6'0 195 lbs, Attends Venice High School. 2020 graduate committed to University of Florida. With solid defense on the field, where Mac truly shined was at the plate. Mac shows an understanding of an at bat working the count into his favor. Mac has a strong top hand to the ball with quick bat speed. Mac has gap to gap strength shown in the line drive he hit off the center field wall in Saturday nights game in the 7th inning.
