The Underclass Games is one of PBR Florida's top event in the state. Featuring some of the top underclassmen, this event was held in south Florida at Florida International University where players went through a pro-style workout and a simulated game.
Today we look at the 2020s in attendance:
Joseph Casale SS / 2B / Jesuit, FL / 2020Lean, athletic, projectable build standing at 6-foot, 155 pounds. In the field he showed the ability to range both to his left and right while fielding the ball under control and out in front. Shows some quick twitch. His throws were accurate to the bag and topped out at 81 mph. At the plate he has a slightly open stance and gets his hands in a good positon with his load. Used all of the field during batting practice and registered an 82 mph exit velocity in the cage. Look for his overall game to only improve as he continues to fill out his frame. |
David Cardentey RHP / 3B / Cape Coral, FL / 2020Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 170 pounds with a solid, strong frame and a good lower half. On the mound he has a simple, repeatable delivery with a big front leg kick throwing out of the high ¾ slot. Fastball mostly sat in 74-76 mph range with some cut and downhill action to it. Also mixed in a 65-67 mph curveball that displayed some shape and threw for strikes. At times he can be inconsistent on his landing and with better use of his strong lower half, he should see an uptick in his velocity. |
Brandon Arnold 3B / SS / Pace, FL / 2020Lean frame standing at 5-foot-9, 155 pounds with some quick twitch. At the plate he shows a balanced setup with a toe tap for his load. When his swing is short and quick to the ball, he was able to consistently make solid contact and use all of the field. With better utilization of his lower half, he will be able to more consistently get behind the ball and drive it. In the infield he shows some athleticism and the ability to make all the plays as he fielded the ball cleanly and out in front. Showed some range as well. His throws to the bag topped out at 70 mph. |
Bryce Thompson C / SS / Jupiter, FL / 2020Lean, athletic frame standing at 5-foot-10, 147 pounds. At the plate he showed loose, quick hands with the ability to make consistent contact. Shows good hand-eye coordination. At times he can let his hands drop, but when he is level through the zone and stays balanced in the box, he can drive the ball into the outfield. Behind the plate he received the ball well and showed an athletic setup with some flexibility. Throws to the bag topped out at 70 mph while also showcasing pop times in the 2.19-2.2 range. |
