The Prep Baseball Report Top Prospect Games took place on Tuesday, June 23rd at the Lake Brantley High School complex in Altamonte Springs, Fl. This event featured 2016 and 2017 uncommitted graduates.
38 prospects came together to show off their skills in front of the PBR Scouting Staff in a pro-style workout setting.
Today we’ll take a look at the top infielders from the event, led by Greg Lewandoski, currently ranked 19th in our 2017 class. More of an offensive guy, Lewandoski surprised me with his speed and athleticism as well as his defensive abilities. Also Jason Swan, who was the most athletic kid at the showcase and can play anywhere on the field.
Let’s take a look at the top infielders from this year’s Top Prospect Games:
Top Infielders
1. Greg Lewandoski, SS/2B, Spruce Creek, 2017
5-foot-9, 160 pound middle infielder with an athletic live body on a medium size frame. More of an offensive guy but showed very good actions with soft hands. Light on his feet with sound fielding mechanics. Has enough arm for the left side of the infield but more of a second basemans’ arm. Lacks ideal range for short stop but can make all of the routine plays and plenty of bat for third base. Short quick stroke with good hitters hands and a very good approach. Gap to gap type, doubles hitter with average ML power. Front side stays on ball well. Hands stay inside ball with a good path. Uses the whole field. Advanced young hitter. Aggressive on the bases with pretty good speed. Has good first step quickness. Ran a 6.84 60. 89 mph exit bat speed velocity. 81 mph infield velocity.
2. Jason Swan, SS/2B, Atlantic Coast, 2017

Lacks strength right now but ball still jumps off his bat. Very projectable bat. Good hitting instincts. Will be fun to watch when his body starts filling out. Is also interesting behind the dish. Is a bit crude but certainly has the tools and the make up and the baseball instincts to become a catcher. I don’t think he has to yet because he’s a very good infielder. However, that makes him a bit more valuable knowing that it’s a possibility. Ran a 7.47 60. 86 mph exit bat speed velocity. 80 mph infield velocity. 2.0 pop time with 74 mph catchers velocity. Excellent academic kid with top of the chart grades.
