Sanchez Walks Off a 1-0 Extra Inning Win for Tampa Catholic

Tuesday night saw a true pitchers duel between Tampa Catholic and Northside Christian by two very promising lefties that ultimately ended by a walk-off in the bottom of the ninth from Tampa Catholic’s Hershey Sanchez.

Starting things off for Northside Christian was Aiden Alvarez who dominated the Crusaders lineup though five and two thirds innings. Alvarez fastball sat between 85-87 mph with some added arm side run. He combined that with a downer curveball that consistently made hitters miss. All in all Alvarez struck out nine and limited the Crusaders to zero runs.

For the Crusaders, Danny Lazaro got the start and he did not disappoint going the full seven innings but sadly he did not get the win. His fastball sat between 84-87 mph and he combined that with a sweeping curveball between 74-76 mph that had hitters in trouble all game long. Lazaro finished with thirteen strikeouts.

In the top of the eighth Roman Corinti came in for the Crusaders and recorded two strikeouts in his showing and allowing only one hit. On the other side Andreas Alvarez came into the game for the Mustangs and recorded five strikeouts over two and two-third innings. 

In the bottom of the ninth Maddox King reached first on a hit by pitch. Hershey Sanchez would then hit a single to left field that would ultimately bring King home and give Tampa Catholic a 1-0 walk-off victory.
