Tallahassee, FL- The Lincoln Trojans would come into a big district matchup against Leon with their best arm on the mound in the Florida State recruit 2017 Austin Pollock. Pollock would not disappoint got the Trojans, going four innings while allowing one run on one hit, walking one and striking out six. Pollock looks the part with a long, lean athletic frame. He has some drop and drive in the delivery and has some length in the back of the arm swing. From a 3/4 slot, he got extension and worked a fastball from 89-92 mph that had life with some deception as he lands closed with a cross fire delivery. He also showed a sweeping slider that worked 76-78 mph and had depth at times when he was on top of the ball. He also worked in a straight changeup at 85 mph.
Lincoln would jump out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to an error on Leon and an RBI single from Hank Evans. Jesse Hall would extend the lead to 3-0 with a leadoff home run. Hall would lead Lincoln offensively going 3-4 with an RBI. Leon would get one back in the fourth thanks to an error on Lincoln. Uncommitted 2017 RHP Nick Standriff would replace Pollock and shut the door on Leon. With a long to short, quick, high 3/4 arm action he worked a fastball at 86-89 mph with late life and worked consistently down in the zone. He would also work in a slurvy type slider that worked 73-75 mph. Thanks to the solid pitching performance and timely hitting, Lincoln would take the district matchup 5-1 over Leon.
