Bradenton, FL—In pool play for Week 2 of the IMG Classic, Flanagan HS, FL took on Mamaroneck HS, NY. The Falcons offense erupted for eight runs in the third inning on their way to an eventual 11-1 victory in five innings. The Falcons received production from up and down their lineup, most notably by 2017 MIF Ricky Presno and 2018 3B Roberto Pena who combined for three hits, three RBIs and three runs.
2017 RHP Nick Davila (Flanagan HS, FL) earned the win and displayed a fastball that was mostly 85-86 mph, along with a 75-76 mph slider the showed shape and depth. The Hillsborough CC recruit finished his time on the mound with five strikeouts and three hits allowed in three innings.
Pena would only be credited with one official at-bat on the day, but he made the most of it when he crushed a two-run home run over the left field wall in the third inning. The Florida recruit has a strong lower half, which he uses to generate power with above average bat speed through the zone. He also showed good plate discipline today when he drew two walks in his two other at-bats.
2018 OF Tyler Evans (Flanagan HS, FL) chipped in by going 2-for-2 at the plate, which included a triple and two runs scored along with 2018 1B Reece Warnock (Flanagan HS, FL) who went 1-for-3 with a double, RBI and two runs scored.
