WINTER SPRINGS --- In the second game of a two game series, crosstown rivals, Oviedo high school and Winter Springs high school squared off in another game dominated by the Lions. Much like the first game, Oviedo’s pitching was the key to the Lions win. This time 2015 LHP Cameron Peppiatt threw a perfect game. The High Point commit had 11 K’s against a very good hitting Winter Springs club.
Peppiatt had a little help from his offense as well as 2015 SS Deacon Liput lead the game off with a walk and stole 2B and 3B as Peppiatt grounded out to get the first run on the board.
The Lions put 2 more on the board in the third inning when Peppiatt lead off with a single followed by a single from 2015 C JJ Woodard with 2015 INF Christian Arroyo hitting a deep Sacrifice fly to right field to score Peppiatt. 2015 3B Ryan Anderson then hit an RBI single to score Woodard.
In the fourth inning, Liput got on base again with the first of his two bunt singles. He stole 2B and Peppiatt was walked. 2016 OF Carlos Cortes ripped a single to left field for the first of his 2 RBI’s. The South Carolina commit went 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI’s on the night.
Liput got on base again in the sixth inning with a bunt single, stole 2B and scored on a Cortes double RBI. Peppiatt closed it out with perfection and Oviedo took another big win from a very good Winter Springs team with a score of 6-0.
