No. 5 Calvary Christian Knocks Off Dunedin with a Late Push

Dunedin, FL - Calvary Christian, the No. 5 team in our Power25 rankings defeated Dunedin 8-0 on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout.

The game was 1-0 through the 5th and then the Calvary offense exploded in the 6th inning for seven runs. It was a big team effort with singles by Nick Monile, Matt Rose, Dillon Costello, Miles Curley, Blake Opie and Andrew Tess.

One bright spot for Dunedin was a double by Jessiah Branch in the fifth inning as he drove a down and in curveball to the fence.

2023 USF commit Hunter Dietz got the win for Calvary. He lasted six innings, allowing one hit and no runs while striking out eight and walking one.  His FB was up to 92 MPH and worked consistently in the 88-91 range.

2023 FAU commit Trey Beard took the loss for Dunedin. He was sharp through 5 innings and then fell on some bad luck allowing a few singles that snuck through the infield. Beard allowed 11 hits and eight runs (4 ER) over 5.2 innings, striking out five and walking one.
