No. 11 Taravella Fights Off No. 10 Miami Springs in a Tight One

The matchup between #10 Miami Springs and #11 Taravella featured tons of dudes across the board for both teams. 2022 Chris Scinta (Miami Commit) faced off against 2023 David Davila (Florida State Commit). Action got started early in the top of the 1st when the 14th rated player in the FL 2022 class Jason Torres (Miami Commit) hit a solo homerun to right. It wouldn't take long for Taravella to answer back with a 2-run homerun from Jassiel Valbuena (Indian River State Commit). The offense wasn’t done for Taravella. 2024 OF Anthony Quigley battled and found a two-strike two-out hit in the 2nd inning which brought up 2024 SS EJ Burns who would homer later in his at-bat.

In what looked to be an offensive heavy game after the early scoring outburst, both teams found their groove. Scinta found his groove after the 1st inning homerun. Reliever Brandon Olivera entered the game for the Golden Hawks, he halted the Trojan offense for the most part, Finishing with 3.1IP, 1R, 5Ks.

Heading to the 6th Taravella held a 6-1 lead. A leadoff error, an infield single, a walk, and a wild pitch got the Trojans into trouble. The Golden Hawks comeback was on, RBI singles from 2022 OF Anthony Ruiz and 2023 C Keyber Delgado cut the lead to 1. 2022 Derek Rodriguez came into the game for the Trojans and worked out of the 2nd and 3rd 1-out jam, preserving the 6-5 lead. Rodriguez made quick work of the Golden Hawks in the 7th. Final stat line 1.2IP, 0R, 2Ks. 

This highly touted matchup did not disappoint as Taravella would take this one 6-5. Both teams have a chance to be playing baseball deep into the playoffs in their respective districts
