Rankings season continues, and we have updated our National Class of 2021 Rankings. The Class of 2021 is loaded with talent from all over the country making for an interesting 2021 MLB Draft come next July. Many players made a jump this fall, especially from the state of Florida. Today, we will highlight five of the biggest risers from the state of Florida in the updated National 2021 Rankings.

Florida Risers

Jay Allen, OF, John Carroll (Florida)

Allen is one of the best pure athletes in the 2021 class. A two-sport athlete (quarterback) with an enormous toolset. Profiles as a true CF with the arm and glove to stay there. Offensively, profiles as a middle of the order bat with potential for all five tools to be at least above average. Allen jumps up to No. 26 in the country in the latest 2021 rankings update.

James Wood, OF, IMG Academy (Mississippi State)

Wood looks the part when he steps on the field at 6-foot-6, 230 pounds. Jumped onto the scene at the 2019 PBR Future Games and has continued to take off ever since. The hit and power tools are there with potential for plus power. Wood moves well for his size and has an above average arm. Wood looks to continue to jump as he heads into his senior season at IMG. Wood makes the jump up to No. 29 in the country.

Ty Evans, OF, Lakeland Christian (Florida)

Evans really stood out this summer/fall, and has made the jump up to No. 77 in the Class of 2021 rankings. Up from No. 226. Evans has a physical 6-foot-2, 200 pound frame. Evans is an above average runner for his size and has a chance to be an above average hitter at the next level. A standout at Florida Diamond Club, Evans looks to continue his upward trend with a strong spring.

Gavin Conticello, SS/3B, Stoneman Douglas (USF)

Conticello has made a big jump over the last year, and has the overall tools to continue that trend. At 6-foot-4, 195, Conticello has a long, lean frame with room to add to it. Has present hit and power tools, and potential to be an above average hitter at the next level. Defensively, could stick at short or move over to 3rd and be an above average defender. Conticello’s recent move to Stoneman Douglas will only help his draft stock in 2021. Conticello jumps up to No. 88 in the National 2021 Rankings update.

Jose Pena, RHP, Tampa Prep (FIU)

Pena makes a huge jump in the 2021 Rankings up to No. 112 nationally. A physical 6-foot-3, 205 pound frame, Pena stood out at the FL Senior State Games and Florida Diamond Club. Sits 90-93 T94 with a heavy FB that rides up in the zone around 2500 rpms. Pairs it with swing and miss breaking ball and fading changeup that have a chance to be above average to plus pitches at the next level. Pena pitches with confidence and is a competitor each time he steps on the rubber.
