Minacci, Politz Lead Jesuit to Statement Win over Calvary Christian Academy

Tampa, FL - A beautiful night in Tampa featured a matchup between two of the top pitchers in the state of Florida. Jesuit’s Camden Minacci faced off against Calvary Christian Academy’s Irving Carter. Minacci, committed to Wake Forest, came out on fire. He struck out nine through the first three innings and did not allow a hit. He was sitting 88-90 with his fastball with a CB at 74-75 and a sinking CH 78-81. He would go 5 innings allowing 1 unearned run on 1 hit with 11 strikeouts.

On the other side was 2021 Miami commit Irving Carter. His stuff was electric but didn’t seem to have control of it tonight. He was sitting 90-93 mph and topped out at 94. He added a 84-86 mph slider and a 80-83 mph changeup. Carter would go 3 ⅓ innings allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 2 hits with 4 strikeouts.

The story of this game was Jesuit’s offense. They piled on the runs early and often. The offense was led by 2020 Holy Cross commit Henry Politz who had a single, double, and a three-run homer for the game. Uncommitted 2021 Nick Rodriguez had a 2-RBI single and scored three runs. 2020 FAMU commit Jalen Niles and uncommitted 2021 BJ Graham contributed to the offense by getting on base multiple times and scoring multiple runs.
