Litsch's Lookback: Week 8
April 14, 2021
Litsch’s Lookback is a weekly segment that takes a look back at the standouts from that week around the state of Florida. The entire PBR Florida staff and myself will be out for coverage at High School, JUCO, and NCAA baseball games each week. We will highlight the biggest standouts from the games we saw that week.
This past week we had JUCO coverage in Clearwater and the Panhandle. We also had high school coverage in Sarasota, Tampa, Jacksonville, and Clearwater. Take a look at the players who stood out to myself and the rest of our staff this past week.
Jesse Litsch
Andrew Baker, RHP, Chipola College
Baker continues to impress, he is currently ranked number 1 in Florida for Junior College baseball (PBR FL Rankings). He pitched against Tallahassee State College and showed why he is number 1, he pounds the zone with a heavy fastball and had a wipeout slider. He only threw his changeup a couple times but it has potential to be a plus pitch. He has repeatable mechanics and has good composure while on the mound. He ran the fastball up to 96 MPH while sitting 93-95. It's crazy to imagine he has only been pitching for 3 years.
The Miami commit was good this week. He commanded the zone and mixed his pitches well while keeping hitters off balance. He had a riding fastball as well as an above average curveball. He showed repeatable mechanics and great mound presence. He sat 88-92 while topping out at 93 MPH.
2021 Jac Caglianone, LHP, Plant
The Florida commit did not disappoint this week. Caglianone pounded the zone with a heavy fastball that has late life and flashed an above average breaking ball at times. He works up tempo and has great mound presence. He ran the fastball up to 96 MPH while sitting 92-94. It's worth mentioning he also went deep at the dish and shows a very solid swing.
