Litsch's Lookback: Week 7
April 7, 2021
Litsch’s Lookback is a weekly segment that takes a look back at the standouts from that week around the state of Florida. The entire PBR Florida staff and myself will be out for coverage at High School, JUCO, and NCAA baseball games each week. We will highlight the biggest standouts from the games we saw that week.
This past week we had JUCO coverage in the Panhandle. We also had high school coverage all over the state from Tampa, Jacksonville, Venice, and Bradenton, as well as some standouts from the State of Georgia. Take a look at the players who stood out to myself and the rest of our staff this past week.
Jesse Litsch
2022 Davion Hickson, RHP, IMG Academy
The Florida State commit was dominant on the mound last week against Venice. The strong athletic build Hickson shows huge upside with the ability to pound the zone to both sides of the plate. He showcased a heavy fastball that ran up to 93 MPH with tons of late life, and a wipeout breaking ball. Although the tempo was a bit slow his mound presence was outstanding.
2022 Jordan Taylor, OF, St. Johns Country Day
Taylor, the Florida State commit stood out last week with plus tools and good baseball instincts. At the plate he showed a short/compact swing with a line drive gap to gap approach. He is a plus runner which showed when running the bases and in the outfield. He tracked down multiple balls in centerfield getting great jumps and reads off the bat and gliding to all parts of the field.
2022 Scott Edwards, OF, Canterbury
Edwards, the past futures games participant, stood out at the plate last week. He shows a great mindset at the plate seeing multiple pitches and has a great eye for the strike zone. He has a short swing with quick hands and gets great extension. Sprays the ball to all fields and shows present power to the pull side.
