Late Push Lifts #3 Calvary Past #13 Dunedin

At the beautiful TD Ballpark in Dunedin, FL, #3 Calvary Christian took on #13 Dunedin. Getting the start for Dunedin was their ace, FAU recruit Trey Beard. The left-hander sat 88-89 throughout the outing and wasn’t afraid to mix speeds. His best pitch was his low 70s changeup which gave hitters fits all game. Beard worked five innings allowing two runs with six strikeouts.

For Calvary, NC State recruit Landen Maroudis took the mound. The righty sat 93-94 in 5.1 innings allowing just one run with five strikeouts.

After three shutout innings from both pitchers, Calvary struck first in the fourth. Blake Opie doubled followed by an Andrew Tess triple to score Opie. Tess would later score on a wild pitch.

In the fifth, Dunedin cut their deficit in half. Tristan Rogers singled and Jacob Riegel doubled to drive in Rogers.

In the 7th, Calvary broke the game open. With two men on, JT Long drove them both in with a two run double. Justin Mayes later added a two run double of his own and Alex Monile hit a two run single making the score 8-1 Calvary.

Arkansas recruit Hunter Dietz closed things out for the Warriors. He sat 90-92 in 1.2 innings of work. Dietz struck out three as Calvary goes on to win 8-1.
