Things kicked off for 14u Team Florida today against a talented Team Indiana squad. Several Colleges coaches made their way to field 10 to see the matchup with many young college prospects on display. On the Bump to start the game for Team Florida was 2023 LHP (Calvary Christian) Paul Guerne. The lefty was impressive during his 3 innings (1R 0ER) working 80-83 with life through the zone mixing in a slider at 72 and a changeup in the 69-71 range. Command was erratic at times, but he was able to make pitches when he needed all outing. The offense got things going right away in the first inning when 2023 SS Sam Mummua lined a single to left and 2023 SS/3B Stone Russell provided a 2 out RBI rocket to center to put his team on the board. Later Team Florida was able to push across a couple more runs with a Sac Fly from 2023 LHP/OF Ryan Rushing as well as RBI ground outs from Sam Mummua and Stone Russell. In the 4th inning, 2023 RHP (Strawberry Crest HS)  Zachary Redner relieved Guerne on the mound and attacked the strike zone with a mid to high 70’s fastball from a whippy 3/4 AA producing sink when down in the zone. He also mixed a sweeping breaking ball in the low/mid 60’s. Closing out the game for Team Florida was Stone Russell who pounding the bottom of the zone with a heavy fastball that sat 83-84 with late ASR and needed just 12 pitches (2k’s) to record the save for Team Florida with a Final score of 4-1.
