2020 ACADEMY BASEBALL LEAGUE

PBR Florida will be launching and operating the Academy Baseball League in 2020. The goal of the Academy Baseball League will be to help provide exposure and structure, while ultimately creating a true championship for academies throughout the country.

For 2020, the Academy Baseball League will include one division and stretch across multiple states in the Southeast. Teams confirmed so far include TNXL Academy, Elite Squad Academy, Elev8 Academy, Pro5 Academy, P27 Academy and Georgia Premier Academy.

TNXL is very excited to compete in a league with some of the best academies in the country,” Brian Martinez, owner of TNXL Academy, said. “This will allow our players to be exposed on a higher level across the Southeast and beyond. We can’t be more grateful for PBR and them setting the tone to bring our academies together on a competitive scale.”

“We are excited to be a part of the inaugural Academy Baseball League powered by PBR,” Mike Griffin of Pro5 Academy added. “We look forward to the platform PBR brings, as well as the high-level competition the league will provide.”

TNXL and Pro5 met in the championship of the inaugural Academy World Series at the FITTTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in a rain-shortened title game. Both showed, along with the other teams in attendance, the high level of talent at academies across the country.

Teams will be required to schedule and dictate 20 divisional league play games. Standings will affect seeding in the Academy World Series, which will take place the second week of May at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches and mark the end of the 2020 season.

Teams will also participate in the Academy Spring Training, March 14-20 at Boombah Sports Complex in Sanford, FL. This event will also feature 20-plus academies from Canada as well as a scout day for college coaches.

“Overall, our goal is to provide a structure and platform for the academies that have continued to become a more significant option for high school players across the country,” PBR Florida Executive Director Doug Freeman said. “There is going to be a continued focus to cover the great high school baseball in the state of Florida going forward, but we do believe that a league powered by PBR will be beneficial to all parties throughout the country involved in high school baseball.”

Overall, PBR looks forward to the inaugural season of the ABL as the organization aims to give the highest level of exposure and an organized league that will provide updated stats, schedules and rosters, as well a highlighting the teams and players throughout the year.
