Workout Standouts
Aaron Saltsman (Rockledge, 2021 OF)
Athletic 5-foot-10, 180 pound frame. Ran a 6.75 60. Showed a strong arm and quick release with an outfield velo of 91. Offensively, has a line drive swing with easy gap-to-gap power. 95 exit velo.
Jake Mummau (Palm Harbor, 2021 SS)
Medium 5-foot-11, 165 pound frame. 6.96 60. Has advanced movements at shortstop, plus glove with an average arm across the diamond registering 78 mph. Offensively, has solid gap-to-gap pop. Contact out in front, good rhythm in the low base and loose hands. Registered an exit velo of 86 mph. One of the top shortstops in his class defensively.
Justin Quintana (American Heritage, 2021 OF)
Athletic 5-foot-10, 184 pound outfielder. Moves well in the outfield and displayed an above average arm (82 mph) with short arm action. Gets good extension on his throws. He showed an advanced offensive approach and compact swing. Registered 86 mph exit velo.
Damian Goulart (Home School, 2021 3B)
Strong build, especially in the lower half. Leverage and balance in the swing that produces consistent hard line drives with a top exit velocity of 90. Bat speed has a chance to become elite. Presently more of a gap to gap hitter, but there’s power in the body with above average feel in the box. Smooth with the glove, moves athletically and the arm is fluid at 79 mph. 7.36 laser-timed 60-yard dash.
Projectability in the bat really stood out in BP. Big strong body at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds. Super quick hands from the left side with elite extension and bat speed. Really whippy through the zone. Consistent barrels and gappers to all fields. 93 exit velocity. Solid enough defensively to potentially stick at 3B, but future could be at 1B. Slightly above average arm at 81 across the infield.
Game 1 recap
Team Florida was defeated by Team Alabama 4-1 in game one of the PBR Future Games. Fisher Jameson got the start for Florida going two innings, allowing two runs, and his fastball sat 83-87 mph, showing off his significant upside. Carsten Finnvold came in relief for Jameson and was Team Florida’s player of the game. He threw two shutout innings, striking out four with his fastball up to 84 mph from the left side. Offensively, Florida was held to just one run when Joseph Phan hit a single into the right-center gap to drive in a run. Florida had a chance to get back into the game with men on when Jake Mummau hit a laser back to the pitcher, who made a tremendous play and doubled up the runner on first to end the Florida threat. Team Florida is back tomorrow at 1:30 PM vs Team Carolina.
