Florida Insider: Notes on 2018- 2019 position players in South Florida

More notes from the South Florida Elite tryout. This time we take a look at 2018 – 2019 position players. Here are some of the highlights:

2018

+ CF Ty Crittenberger (Cardinal Gibbons HS) is a 5-foot-9, 155 pound outfielder with a young lean athletic projectable body with good actions in OF. Good enough arm right now, but will improve with physical maturity. Had some quickness and strength in bat for a young kid. Had a good path with solid approach. Ran a 6.9 60 yard dash. Very young kid that will become a pretty good player.

+ 3B Zach Goberville (Westminster Academy HS) is a 6-foot-2, 170 pound third baseman with a tall loose lean lanky projectable body. Has loose actions on defense with some softness in hands. Good approach at the plate with some quickness in hands and looseness in the bat with a good plane. Has some length and lift in swing. Swings the bat with confidence. Takes a good BP. Will develop power with physical maturity.

+ SS Alexandro Bello (Hialeah Senior HS) is a 5-foot-7, 140 pound shortstop with a very young, smaller frame with a live lower half. Good actions and soft hands with plenty of arm to play shortstop. Plays defense a little flat footed right now but can be corrected. Short compact swing with some quickness in hands. Very good plane with good balance. Stays inside ball well. Ran a 6.9, 60 yard dash.

+ SS Tyler Zayas (West Broward HS) is a 5-foot-10, 155 pound shortstop with a very young, lean athletic projectable body. Very good actions with soft hands and good arm strength. Runs a 7.1, 60 yard dash. Some quickness in his hands with good hand eye. Bat will improve with physical maturity. Can stay at shortstop with limited range. Will make all of the routine plays.

2019

+ 1B Triston Casas (Walter C. Young MS) is a 6-foot-4, 238 pound 2 way guy that has been reported on previously as a pitcher. He is a very young kid with a big body. Has strength and bat speed at an early age. Has a loose bat with quickness in his hands. Has some strength with power now with much more to come. Has a good plane and stays inside ball well. Has some length with lift in swing. Can hit the ball out of the park already. The ball jumps off his bat. Needs work around the bag but will improve the more he hits. Will be interesting to watch him grow into his body. Has alot of upside.

+ C Dylan Goldstein (American Heritage) is a 5-foot-10, 205 pounder with a thick stocky strong body. Has quickness and strength in bat at a very young age. Has some length and lift in his swing. Good hand eye and good approach. Took a very good batting practice. I did not see him play in the game but he has a chance to become an impact LH power bat.

+ 3B Mykanthony Valdez (Mater Academy) is a 5-foot-11, 195 pound third baseman wih a thick strong stocky young body. Shows strength and bat speed at a very young age. Good path with aggressive approach. Has loft in swing. I did not see him play in the game but he took a great batting practice. He has a chance to become an impact power bat as he matures.
