Wellington High School
Wellington took part in the Colts First Pitch Classic this past week hosted by Coral Springs High School. The Wolverines took home the title going 3-0 in the tournament. They won on the opening night beating Coral Springs Christian by a score of 10-0. In round two they faced the hosts Coral Springs and won by a score of 10-4. On Friday they took the championship game defeating Taravella 2-1 headlined by 5 shutout innings from Stetson commit Erik Wiebke. Stetson commit Matt Morales was named tournament MVP.
Morales has a smaller frame and a live athletic body with smooth actions and soft hands. Plenty of arm strength for SS and excellent defensively. Very good runner with 6.6 speed and 4.1 down the line. Good approach at the plate with some quickness in the bat and a very good plane. Bat will improve with strength. Will eventually be a draft.
