The Future Games is the premier underclass event in the country, with 400 uncommitted underclassman coming together on 20 different teams for four day at Grand Park in Indiana. 2017 was the first year Florida was represented by an entire team. 20 of the top uncommitted prospects in the 2019 and 2020 classes participated in the four day event that included a workout day and three games. While all of the players showed why they deserved to be there, these five player really stood out and helped themselves in front of 250 scout's from over 130 schools.
Derek Crum OF / LHP / Gaither, FL / 2019Crum came into the Future Games as one of the most highly touted position players on Team Florida and did not disappoint. He has grown a few inches and added 10-15 lbs of muscle and it showed during the workout portion. He has a wide base and simple load, generating power from a strong lower half. He flashed present pull side power and ability to drive balls from gap-to-gap. The swing transferred well into game play where he showed his above average approach, drawing four walks in three games, as well as consistently finding the barrel including a triple in the first game to the left-center field gap. Crum is also very interesting on the mound, where he featured a quick arm, working a fastball from 87-89 mph. Crum stood out as a true two-way and the bat will really play at the next level. He showed the ability to be a solid outfield defender and a quality bullpen arm in college.
