Each day we will come out with a Scout Blog, highlighting the players that stood out to our PBR Florida Scouts. Today, we will release our Day 3 Scout Blog.
Champions: Upperclass - JSB Tigers; Underclass - Florida Burn 2022 Platinum
Upperclass
Crusaders
Ben Cheek 3B / RHP / Seffner Christian Academy, FL / 2021Cheek is an intriguing player in that his body looks to be filling out on an already stocky frame that should expedite some learning curves that come with natural growth. Keeping the weight on his back leg Cheek sinks into his lower half utilizing the legs, core, then the arm. With a mechanically sound windup that is clean and repeatable it wouldn’t be far fetched to see his velocity continue to tick upwards with the feel for his secondary pitches coming to him a little easier as he gets older. He kept the fastball around 80 mph with a 67-70 mph sweeping slider and a 65 mph changeup to complete his arsenal

Garrett Gregory SS / 3B / IMG Academy , FL / 2021Uncommitted. Calm, let it travel approach, balanced in the box. Drove the ball the other way all day. Whippy hands, athletic finish. Strong frame, knows how to use the lower half. Really like the offensive upside.

Trey Rucker SS / OF / IMG Academy , FL / 2021Rankings StateRank: 179 / POS: 40
Uncommitted. Great athlete. Hands are high to start and he gets them in a great hitting position at load. Stance is sunk into his posterior with hip hinge. Quick twitch movements, and like a lot of IMG hitters, went the other way well. Also showed ability to hit the inside pitch to the pull side with power. Covers ground in the outfield with well above average speed.

Jack Thunberg LHP / IMG Academy, FL / 2021Uncommitted. Started semifinal and allowed no hits in 3 IP. Big 6-foot-5, 240 pound frame on the lefty. Fastball sat 81-83, touching 84, and got some arm side run on occasion. Worked off fastball up in the zone and was successful at it. His 73-75 mph breaking ball was average, but the high fastball makes it play above average.
