Florida 2024 Rankings Update
October 7, 2021
We are deep into the 2021 Fall baseball season and talent continues to rise from every class. After updating the 2022 and 2023 classes, we are onto the 2024 class. Heading into their Sophomore years, the 2024 class is ready to make big impacts on their varsity team this coming spring. Take a look at the newest edition of the Florida Class of 2024 rankings.
Remaining at the top is LHP/OF Talan Bell. A FSU commit from Hagerty, Bell has remained the cream of the crop in this class since the first time we saw him two years ago. A polished left hander continues to make the jumps we expected from him. Upper 80’s from the left side with feel to spin the breaking ball. Athleticism as a two-way with the ability to swing it from the left side as well.
Jumping up to No. 2 and knocking on Bell’s door is RHP/OF Chase Mobley. At 6-foot-5, 185 pounds, the Florida State commit has everything you look for in a projectable frame. Mobley has a quick, athletic arm up to 91 mph from the right side. Shows some pop in his bat as well as he uses his long frame to create leverage and drive the ball with power.
At No. 3 is athletic middle-infielder Manuelle Marin. A Miami commit from Doral Academy, Marin is a consistent in-game performer. Mature actions in the box with quick loose hands. Stays on time and on the barrel consistently and drives the ball to all fields. Rangy defender with a lot to like overall.
At No. 4 is RHP Zachary Hopper. A lean athletic right hander committed to Florida has a fastball in the upper 80’s with feel to spin the breaking ball. Hopper has continued to make jumps since we first saw him two years ago. Clean, athletic delivery with a real ability to pitch. Should continue to make jumps as he adds strength to his frame.
Rounding at the top 5 and making a big jump is RHP Blaine Rowland. A Florida commit and former Junior Future Gamer with Team Florida, Rowland made a big jump in the last year. Up to 90 mph with the fastball with a loose, athletic arm. The arm strength was present last summer and has now translated to the mound where he looks to be a frontline starter in the future.
Risers
OF Fabio Peralta has the makings of a speedy leadoff hitter for years to come. Left handed hitter who found barrels all summer. Line drive approach with quick hands and the ability to make a constant impact on the field. Miami commit.
RHP Joshua Whritenour is an impressive young right hander who I got to see for the first time this past weekend. Lean 6-foot-2, 165 pound frame. Up to 88 mph in my look with natural run on the fastball. Flashed an above average breaking ball and should see more jumps as he fills out his lean frame. Florida commit.
SS Austin Jacobs is a polished middle infielder with a lot to like on both sides of the field. Works under control with rhythm and soft hands defensively. Simple, line drive hitter at the plate with the ability to lift when needed. Very high ceiling on this FSU commit.
