Florida 2023 Rankings Update
March 31, 2022
Our player rankings updates continue as we updated the Florida Class of 2022 last week. That class is headlined with 3 projected first rounders come the 2022 MLB Draft. The 2023 class has seen several prospects make tremendous jumps over the last year and should see several top picks in the 2023 Draft from Florida. With the spring high school season in full swing, it is time to tweak our 2023 rankings.
At the top remains the two power bats in the class in third basemen Aidan Miller and Braden Holcomb. I got the chance to see Miller earlier this week and he continues to get stronger and the strength plays very well offensively. Holcomb at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds is an imposing athlete who moves well for his size. The power potential stands out the most with him having a chance for plus power at the next level. Expect Miller and Holcomb to be in the first round conversation come the 2023 Draft.
No. 3 in the state is RHP/SS Landen Maroudis who continues to be one of my favorite prospects to follow. Does everything on the field at a high level and seems to keep getting better. Up to 93 mph with the fastball on the mound now and offensively always finds barrels with developing power. Still pretty lean at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, Maroudis has more room to fill out and that can only help increase his ceiling as a prospect.
At No. 4 is an arm that continues to be a big time riser in this class in RHP Liam Peterson. The Florida commit is thriving at his new school Calvary Christian and has helped lead them to an undefeated record so far. Peterson continues to get stronger, now standing 6-foot-5, 195 pounds. Fastball in the mid 90’s with 2 above average secondary pitches. Quick arm with a lot to like going forward.
Another big riser in these rankings is SS Ariel Antigua. The Gamecock commit jumps into the top 10 at No. 9. A little undersized at 5-foot-8, 180 but plays above it. The hit tool is one of the tops in the class, consistently finding barrels. Antigua went off at last year’s Area Code Games and just flat out hits whenever we’ve seen him.
Two new additions to these rankings come at No. 10 and 12 with IMG’s Mikhai Grant and TayShaun Walton. Grant is a 6-foot-3, 210 pound right hander committed to Mississippi State. Athletic on the mound with the fastball up to 94 mph with heavy ride through the zone. Flashed an above average slider at times. Has really impressed since his arrival at IMG. Walton is a strong 6-foot-3, 220 pound outfielder committed to Miami. The strength immediately stands out and he has some of the biggest power potential in the class. Physically impressive in the box and can do damage to the baseball.
