Florida 2021 Rankings Update
August 28, 2020
The 2020 summer circuit has come to an end with the fall season slowly approaching. The class of 2021 stood out this summer and continues to prove itself as one of the most talented classes we’ve seen. Today, we will take a look at our newly updated Florida Class of 2021 rankings. Many players have moved around in the rankings, and we have expanded the rankings to over 350 players. Take a look.
RHP Andy Painter (Calvary Christian Academy, Florida) continues to lead the class as the top 2021 arm in the entire country. At 6-foot-6, 230 pounds, Painter has the making of a front line starter at the next level.
Coming in at No. 2 is a new addition to the Florida rankings in OF/LHP Drew Gray (IMG Academy, Arkansas). Gray comes over from Illinois and is a true two-way prospect. The southpaw runs his fastball up to 93 mph and has one of the best hit tools in the class.
At No. 3 is Painter’s HS teammate, RHP Irving Carter (Calvary Christian Academy, Miami). Carter has a deceptive delivery that he uses well to keep hitters off balance. With a fastball that runs in the mid 90’s and an above average changeup, Carter continues to show a tremendous ceiling.
No. 4 in the Florida 2021 class is another top two-way prospect, C/RHP Jackson Baumeister (Bolles, Florida State). Tall, athletic frame with a fastball in the low 90’s. Above average defender behind the plate with a bat that plays at the next level. Big two-way upside.
Rounding out the top 5 is RHP Brandon Neely (Spruce Creek, Florida). Nelly has an athletic frame with a quick arm that runs the fastball in the low-to-mid 90’s. Neely has a very high ceiling as he continues to fill out. Has shown above average secondary stuff as well.
Outside of the top 5, we have three new additions to the top 10. At No. 7 is 3B Tommy White (IMG Academy, NC State). White is headed to IMG this year and is in for a big senior year. White put his strong hit and power tools on display this summer and continues to hit at all levels.
At No. 9 is C Dylan King (American Heritage Delray, North Carolina). King made a big jump this summer showcasing above average bat speed with his athletic frame. 6.90 runner with quick feet behind the plate. King has one of the highest ceilings in the class.
Rounding out the top 10 is SS Drake Varnado (IMG Academy, Arkansas). Varnado is one of the top shortstops in his class. The bat plays with quick hands and a gap-to-gap approach. Defensively, moves well with an above average arm that was up to 92 mph at the Florida ProCase.
