FL Preseason All-State Spotlight: Hayden Reed
January 24, 2019
The Florida Preseason All-State has quickly become the premier Preseason event in the state of Florida. Over the first two years there have been over 100 committed players in attendance and counting. This event is held for the top 2019s-2022s throughout the state to kick off the Prep Baseball Report's spring high school baseball coverage.
We will begin to spotlight each and every player in attendance. Today, we look at MIF Hayden Reed (IMG Academy, 2020). The uncommitted prospect earned an invite to Preseason All-State after being a standout prospect at the Central Florida Trials on January 19th.

Scouting Report
1/19/19 - Undersized at 5-foot-8, 150 pounds he gets the most out of his tools. Defensively, he has a feel for the position in the middle. Some twitchiness athletically, lateral agility and hands work. Overall, a solid all around defender. Offensively, he stood out as he stands upright and confident. He has a compact swing and quick hands through the zone. He has a feel for the barrel and showed the ability to consistently hit the ball hard during BP.
10.7.18 - This was our second look at Reed in the past three weeks and while his physical stature at 5-foot-6, 135-pounds does not jump of the page, his ability to play the game does. The right-handed hitter again showed an above average feel for the baseball out of a square stance. He initiates his swing with a heel-raise stride and a short stroke produced repeated line drives during a solid round of batting practice. Reed registered an 83 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.21 60-yard dash. He showcased active feet and a quick release while consistently playing through the baseball defensively. Reed displayed accurate 79 mph arm strength across the diamond and makes the slow roller play look routine. Fundamentally sound in all of his actions, the New Jersey native is a high academic student that will compete early for playing time with the right college program.
9.15.18 - 5-foot-6, 135-pounder impressed with his solid all-around skill set and fundamentally sound approach to all facets of the game. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a toe-tap stride. Reed showed a line drive approach with a short swing path while consistently barreling the baseball in batting practice. Registered a 76 mph bat exit velocity and barreled the baseball in all three game at bats, including a pair of singles. Showcased active feet and a quick release defensively while consistently playing through the baseball with accurate 76 mph arm strength across the diamond.
