The Florida Preseason All-State has quickly become the premier Preseason event in the state of Florida. Over the first two years there have been over 100 committed players in attendance and counting. This event is held for the top 2019s-2022s throughout the state to kick off the Prep Baseball Report's spring high school baseball coverage.

We will begin to spotlight each and every player in attendance. Today, we look at Carsten Finnvold (American Heritage Delray, 2021). The southpaw is ranked No. 100 in Florida's Class of 2021.

Scouting Report

06/23/18- Uncommitted. Currently 5-foot-11 145 pounds. Lean, long limbed, very projectable. Has an advanced feel on the mound for his age and showed the ability to throw three pitches for strikes. Throws from a very loose high 3/4 slot. The fastball works 76-79 mph with consistent armside run. His changeup is the equalizer, not scared to throw it in any count and is clearly his best secondary pitch. The pitch is 67-68 mph with fade and depth as he pronates the pitch. Flashed a few curveballs at 63-64 mph with 2/7 shape. Presently his 3rd best pitch. shows the ability to throw it for strikes to lefties. Intriguing young lefty that will only continue to get better. Great student 4.8 GPA

09/30/17- Son of a former big league pitcher Gar Finnvold, you can see that Carsten has been taught well and shows an advanced feel for pitching for his age. In his two innings he went six up, six down while striking out two. The delivery is simple, repeatable and mechanically sound. He could get more use from the lower half, but everything works and will continue to improve as he grows and becomes stronger. The fastball worked 74-76 mph, curveball at 60-62 mph and a changeup at 67-69 mph. Shows a feel for all three pitches and all have potential to be above average pitches as he continues to get stronger.
