FL Power25 Update: Week 1

The 2023 high school baseball season is officially underway. Each week we will update our Power25 HS Rankings with Risers, Fallers, and Newcomers to the rankings each week. We look forward to covering high school games this spring and hearing your feedback on who you think should be ranked where. Take a look at our Week 1 update.

Week 1

Risers

#5 Jesuit

Jesuit jumps into the top 5 after a 3-0 start to their 2023 season. The Tigers opened up with a 7-0 victory over River Ridge on opening night. They then traveled up to Georgia and defeated Lowndes and Parkview. They have a big matchup coming up against #10 Mitchell tomorrow.

#8 North Broward Prep

North Broward Prep is off to a 3-0 start to the season. Wins over American Heritage, Monsignor Pace, and ABF Academy. North Broward is extremely deep and will be dangerous again in 2023.

Fallers

NR Bishop Verot

Bishop Verot started their season with one of the toughest opening week schedules you can have. The Vikings traveled to Arizona where they took on Corona del Sol (AZ), Cypress (CA), and Hamilton (AZ). Despite the difficult schedule, Bishop Verot went 0-3 in Arizona and sit 1-3 to start their season. The Vikings are a talented team who should find themselves back in these rankings soon.

NR Eau Gallie

Eau Gallie started their 2023 season with a 1-2 record in Week 1. Losses to Martin County and Vero Beach knock them outside the Power25. They finished their week with a win over Sebastian River.

Newcomers

#24 St. Johns Country Day

The Spartans are off to a 3-0 start to their 2023 season. A deep roster with a lot of senior leadership should help them throughout the spring. The Spartans opened up with an 8-0 win over Episcopal. They followed with a 13-2 win over Bolles and 11-1 win over Calvary Day (GA).

#25 Berkeley Prep

Berkeley Prep is off to a 2-0 start to 2023 and jump into the Power25. A 10-0 win over McKeel Academy and a 7-4 win over Sante Fe Catholic. Sophomore Rivers Kurland helped lead the way on the mound win 10 strikeouts over 4 shutout innings.
