Over 200 players took part in the Elite Squad tryout at Broward college from August 12th- August 13th. These players took part in a pro-style workout and a simulated games. Below we take a look at the 2018 graduates who took advantage of the PBR Upgrade during the tryout.

 

Alejandro Macario 3B / SS / Archbishop McCarthy, FL / 2018 The 6-foot, 195-pound 3B/SS has a stocky frame with a strong lower half Offensively the right handed hitter uses a medium leg kick load. Slightly uphill path, he stays balanced in the lower half. Stays stacked in lower half, tilt and creates natural loft with present pull power. Defensively, he fields slightly upright, but has quality rhythm through the ball and he hands work well.

Eric Hernandez 1B / OF / Pembroke Pines Charter, FL / 2018 6-foot-3, 200 pound left handed hitting 1B/OF has a wide, strong lower half. With a quality scap load, he has some length in the swing, but has an uphill path with natural loft and pull side power. Hands works well at first and shows quality footwork around the bag.

Carlos Salaverria OF / SS / Cypress Bay, FL / 2018 5-foot-10, 160-pound right handed hitting OF/SS  has a wide base and short load in his setup. He can be weak on the front side at times and some steepness in the path, but has a feel for the barrel with line drives from gap-to-gap in batting practice. Shows a strong, accurate arm in the outfield, topping out at 85 mph. Athletic, projectable frame .

Taylor Sellers 1B / RHP / Royal Palm Beach, FL / 2018 6-foot-2, 165-pounds the right handed hitter has a medium leg kick and a shouldered load. He is level through the zone, but is slightly rotational. Shown a feel for the barrel. On the mound, he has an over-the-head windup, lands slightly closed and uses a short high 3/4 arm action to generate a fastball ranging from 70-73 mph. Also threw a curveball from 58-60 mph.

Trace Moore LHP / 1B / Nova , FL / 2018 At 6-foot-1, 185 pound he has filled out his frame with muscle and strength. The fastball has made a nice jump as well, working 79-83 mph. He also a curveball at 70 mph with quality depth. He has a simple, repeatable delivery and shows an above average feel for pitching, keeping hitters off balance mixing the fastball and changeup. The stuff doesn’t jump out at you, but the feel is well above average and he knows how to get hitters out. Also showed the curveball is a swing and miss pitch, striking out four of the five hitters he faced.

Carlos Fonseca C / OF / Forest Hill Community, FL / 2018 Stocky, strong catcher’s build. Defensively is flexible and an above average receive and blocker. He has quick feet and transfer with a strong arm topping out with a op time of 1.93. Offensively, he starts with an open stance and dives in during load. He has quick hands, but tends to hit off of a weak front side There is present bat speed and a strong lower half, with a stronger front side he should see some power jump.

Bryan Ferreira 3B / SS / Everglades, FL / 2018 6-foot, 185-pound 3B/SS has a strong, stocky frame. Offensively, the right handed hitter has a small leg kick trigger. He has quality separation and scap load, but the stride is short. He has a short, quick path to the ball, but could see a jump with better use from his strong lower half. Defensively, he moves well with sound footwork and hands.

Ryan Veve OF / 2B / American Heritage, FL / 2018 5-foot-11, 160-pound right handed hitting outfielder hits from a wide base and simple load. The path works level through the zone and could benefit from a stronger front side. Tan a 7.15 60 yard dash. In the outfield, he comes through the ball well and topped out at 79 mph.

Brandon Andal C / 3B / Pembroke Pines Charter, FL / 2018 5-foot-10, 165-pound right handed hitting catcher starts with a slightly open stance and quality separation. The path is level through the zone and has a feel for the barrel. He tends to drift forward and hit on a weak front side, but as he strengthens the front side the line drives from gap-to-gap can turn into gap-to-gap power. Defensively, he is a quality receive. He has quick feet, a good catch to release with a quick transfer and strong arm with pop times in the 1.93-2.0 range. Shows eh ability to be an above average defensive catcher.

Ryan Batezel OF / RHP / Seminole Ridge, FL / 2018 6-foot-1, 195 pound strong, lean frame. The right-handed hitter has an open stance with a high leg kick trigger. There is aggression in the swing, the path can get steep at times, but when he is level and on time he has present gap-to-gap power. Defensively, he showed an accurate arm from the outfield topping out at 81 mph. On the mound, he threw from a high 3/4 arm action with a fastball that ranged from 81-83 mph and a changeup at 76 mph.
