Elite Squad Tryout: Standouts
December 14, 2021
Elite Squad held their 2022 summer team tryouts Friday and Saturday, December 10th-11th, at Broward College in Davie. The tryout featured the classes of 2023-2026 participating in Bullpen sessions on Friday, followed by BP and Pro-style workouts on Saturday in front of the PBR Florida Staff. Below we highlight some of the standout players from the tryout. This includes some already committed players as well as many uncommitted guys. Each class has its own breakdown of standout players.
Class of 2023
2023 John Caballero, RHP, Monsignor Pace HS
Caballero, strong athletic frame, had a strong bullpen session on Friday. FB was 88-90 with feel for his secondary pitches. Uses a quick compact arm. A good follow this spring.
2023 Jeter Polledo, SS, Monsignor Pace HS
Every time we see him, the Wake Forest, commit always finds barrels, showing power to all fields. In the field the glove plays, with consistent footwork and clean actions.
2023 Jack Quick, RF/1B, Elite Squad Academy
Jack continues to grow as a hitter, showing solid barrel control through the zone and quick hands. The uncommitted prospect consistently shows the ability to drive the ball to all fields. One to follow this spring.
2023 George Lombard, SS/3B, Gulliver Prep
The Vandy commits glove always plays each and every time we see him. Smooth actions and a rocket arm. At the plate he uses a simple gap to gap approach with power to his pull-side.
2023 Daniel Cuvet, 3B/1B St. Thomas Aquinas HS
One of the better hitters in the class, the Miami commit, put on a show during BP. Showing major pull-side power. The ball sounds different off his bat.
