Tampa, FL - A wet Tuesday night at Sickles High School featured a matchup between the Gryphons and the Palm Harbor Hurricanes. Sickles was led on the mound by their ace, 2020 Florida commit Chase Centala. Centala came out attacking the zone early. He has a crossfire delivery with a loose arm. Fastball was sitting 87-91 mph with late sink. His slider was 77-78, with a 79-83 changeup.

Centala was able to work around some baserunners in the first two innings to keep Palm Harbor off the board. Sickles put up three early runs in the first and never gave up the lead. Rain started to come down heavily in the third inning, causing a brief rain delay. After the delay, Sickles added four more runs to extend their lead to 7-0.

Centala came back out to pitch after the delay, and continued where he left off. He would finish with five shutout innings, allowing only two hits, with three walks, and four strikeouts.

Offensively for Sickles, 2020 Tyler Green led the way with two hits, a walk, and an RBI. Palm Harbor would finally get on the scoreboard when 2020 Barry Eiseman hit a two RBI single to bring the game to 8-2. Sickles would add one more run and take this one 9-2.

For Palm Harbor, 2021 SS Jake Mummau reached base twice with a walk and a single, and was a consistent defender at short. 2023 Jacob Riegel came in relief for the Hurricanes and was impressive. He came from a deceptive, low ¾ arm slot and was up to 83 mph with the fastball. Riegel also mixed in an above average breaking ball.
