January 20, 2020
The Cannons Scout Day took place from January 10-12 in Fort Lauderdale and featured over 125 players from the class’ of 2021-2024. There was a lot of talent in each age group and a great early look at a number of potential impact players this spring. Early this week we broke down the top statistical performers, which you can find HERE. We also took a look at the initial standouts HERE.
Today, we take a look at 2021s and 2022s who are worth a follow heading into the spring.
Miguel Sosa SS / Westminster Academy , FL / 2021Thick, stocky frame and moves it well. Has well above average quickness and accuracy of the hands in the infield. Displayed good range and an arm that works. Mid-high 80s exit velocities and a smooth swing with some extension. Like the defensive potential in the middle infield.

Diego Caicedo SS / 3B / Westminster Academy, FL / 2021Rankings StateRank: 132 / POS: 31
Adding to the list of slick-gloving shortstops in the 2021s, Caicedo showed some of the best hands of the event. He has an athletic frame that fits the mold of a SS. Was 81 across the infield and showed several different arm angles. 87 exit velocity and a compact, well controlled swing. Loose wrists and good barrel speed.
Jordan Cabrera 3B / Nova, FL / 2021Really liked the simple swing and barrel ability. Had some of the most consistent rounds of BP, squaring up for hard line drives in the middle of the field on all but 1 or 2 swings. Stocky frame has some strength and body control. Solid offensive potential with above average bat to ball ability.
Vincent Samuel / Taravella, FL / 2022Athletic, sturdy frame with some strength. Offensive upside stands out with serious power potential. Turned around an 87mph fastball up and in for a homerun. Like the athleticism in the outfield and behind the plate. Chance to be a well above average all around player.
Andres Natera SS / SS / Cypress Bay, FL / 2022Rankings StateRank: 86 / POS: 19
Looks the part with a really athletic build and a high waist. Good actions in the infield with rhythm and good direction. Above average hands and instincts on defense. The arm works in the infield at 80 across and will get stronger. Exit velocities in the mid-upper 80s with good coil, extension and lift in the swing.
Andrew Tabor OF / OF / Bishop Kenny , FL / 2022Strong, sturdy frame with a lot of strength in the lower half. Athleticism stood out, running a 6.78 sixty and covering a lot of ground in the outfield. Showed a strong arm from the outfield, throwing out multiple runners during gameplay. The left-handed bat is short and compact with some strength behind it. Has a level path and emphasizes contact, a sound approach to let his speed play.
Rolando Lujo SS / RHP / n/a, FL / 2022Like the strong, athletic frame. Has an electric quick arm, sat 85-87 T88 on the mound, and showed power potential on offense. Twitchy hands and fast, explosive actions all around. Was 81 across the infield.
Adrian Dominguez 3B / OF / Monsignor Pace, FL / 2022The Miami commit showed a ton of offensive upside from the left side. He starts tall and gets down into backside with rhythm. Hands are whippy through the zone and he displayed good connection. Like the lower half use and ability to shoot the opposite field gap with authority.
Oxswen Cotto SS / West Boca Raton, FL / 2022Medium, athletic build on the talented defender. Advanced hands and actions at shortstop with the ability to make the special play. Offense is a little light presently, but has the actions in the swing from the left side to develop some pop. High defensive ceiling.
Jonathan Xuereb SS / 3B / Calvary Christian Academy, FL / 2022Rankings StateRank: 176 / POS: 37
Projectable frame with some present strength and room to add more. Like the movements on both sides of the ball and the live arm on the mound. There’s some two-way potential, as the Calvary Christian sophomore sat 83-85, topped 86, and showed above average ability to handle the bat. Chance to come into some power with the frame and athleticism.
